Forums - Sales - "Other" region sales data

Ok, I've always been curious about the the Others region (aka The Rest of the World, but I don't like this term) sales data. We always get clear information about Japan, Europe and the US, but the world is way bigger than just that. I know that there's a reason for that, these 3 regions correspond to most of the console sales, but I still think the we should pay more attention to other regions for sales date, especially in the case of the Switch. Everybody knows the Switch is in a very unique situation, where it may or may not pass the PS2's sales in the next years. I see it like a 50/50 chance. One way we could have more accurate guesses about this possible feat is to know how the Other region is behaving, especially because each thousanad/million sales units will make a difference from now on, in my opinion. Are the Switch's sales steady? Or is it falling? If it is falling, is it a sharp fall or a smooth one? Another possibility to consider this region as a fertile ground for the Switch's sales in the next 1 or 2 years, as a $400~450 console like the Switch 2 is rumored to be, probably wouldn't be so achievable.

But first of all, could someone at least tell me what countries are included in the Worldwide sales data here at VGChartz, when we exclude Japan, Europe and the US? And does anyone has clear data about Switch's sales in the Other(s) region(s)?

You can see all of this data in the all platforms page. The Switch is 22.66M. Next are PS4 and PS2 with 23.53M and 27.9M respectively. You can also get the data for each year when you remove every region's numbers from the total year ones in the hardware to date page. Therefore Switch sales for each year in the Others regions are the following:

  • 2017 - 1.63M
  • 2018 - 2.86M
  • 2019 - 3.26M
  • 2020 - 6.17M
  • 2021 - 4.75M
  • 2022 - 3.55M
  • 2023 - 3.17M
  • 2024 - 1.93M (till end of November)

With the decline in 2024 and the obvious one in 2025 (since successor is releasing), I can't see how the Switch will make 5M+ to reach the PS2 in the Others region. It can pass the PS4 though.

Yeah, I was aware of the all plataform page. But there, we don't have US's data, we have North America, and in the hardware to date page (the one we can adjust the graph to display yearly, monthly or weekly data), we have US's numbers. Also, as I said before, it would be better if we had these information clearer somewhere, not needing to do any math. But, thanks for doing it for me. As for Switch's sales in this region, maybe it won't fall as much, due to Switch 2's higher price, as I said before. Let's say Other region has 1.2M Switch units sold in 2025 and 0.5M in 2026. It is 1.7M units. I think it's a decent number for a region that is mostly forgotten in people's projections for a console and that is in neck to neck battle against the PS2

Ooh yeah .. This means that my data includes Canada + Mexico too, for a total of 27.32M, yep you are right. the rest of the world is 22.66M which means that 4.66M is Canada + Mexico.

We have hardware sales broken down by quite a few countries and regions depending on where you look.

On the Platform Totals page North America is US and Canada combined, while the Americas breakdown article also includes Latin America.

When it comes to Europe, we have it broken down to the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Nordic (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland), Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg), and Other Europe (the rest of Europe).

The Rest of the World / Others region on the Platform Totals page includes Latin America, Oceania, MEA (Middle East + Africa), and Asia (minus Japan).

Trunks I'm Brazilian and I believe that Brazil is the strongest market in Latin America. We are one of the 8 countries where Capcom sold more than 1 million copies in the last fiscal year.

i've always thought that in the Plataform Totals page, Mexico was included in the North America columm, since that in the front page the North America data is represented by an image with parts of the flags of US, Canada and also Mexico. Does that mean that in the front page, Mexico is actually not included, just like in the Plataform Total page? If it is included, does that mean that you have access to Mexico's numbers apart?

The same question goes to Canada. If in the the Americas breakdown we have US's numbers apart from the rest of the Americas and in the Plataform Totals, Canada is included, does that mean that you have acess to Canada's numbers apart? Or, in the Americas breakdown, are US's numbers actualy "US + Canada" and the America's numbers are "US+Canada" + "Latin America"?

Sorry for these questions but I've always been a little confused with Mexico's, Canada's and Latin America's representation here
