Forums - Nintendo - Pokémon Gen 9 - Scarlet & Violet announced

If its anything like Pokemon Legends Arceus, then Im all in. Really enjoyed that game.

The only thing that will get me back into pokemon now is voice acting. The series desperately needs it.

If they add voice acting to Scarlet & Violet, I'm in.

Given that Pokemon Legends just released and Breath of the Wild 2 will likely come out at the end of the year, I would've expected any time in 2023 for Gen 9 to happen. But nope, here we go.
Gen 8 had a lot of detractors, but it still sold a ton of copies. Gen 9 will probably follow the same boat.

99% sure they won't.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I was really hoping they would delay this one to next year. Like, we had a pandemic that delayed games development and we just had two major releases back to back in DP Remakes and Legends Arceus with just months in between. If they could not delay gen 9 with all this, I can't see an scenario where they could. At this point, its just amusing to me.

Anyways, I hope they aim for an early december release, which I guess is as late as possible before holidays. I already skipped gen 7 and 8 so I'll probably buy this one regardless.

How about they just get rid of this ridiculous dual release for each gen and just make one game? I'm not even that into Pokemon to begin with, but I just find it completely off-putting whenever they release two games simultaneously and try to justify it by making the two just slightly different.

Wow not giving Arceus a chance to breathe at all

Why not wait until June or something to annoucne this? Cutting the legs of Arceus is an odd choice. While I'm confused that they're pumping out so many games in too short of a time, I'm really happy to see that the open world formula is seemingly here to stay.

I realize there is little chance of it happening. I can dream though.

I guess I've been spoiled by recent games, I just much prefer when there is voice acting.

My first impression was honestly a positive one, visually it's a noticeable improvement over Gamefreak's previous entries on Switch.
