Europe is Sony land. It would take a massive effort for Nintendo or Microsoft to overthrow them there. Probably more than it's worth especially if you have to divert resources from other areas.

My guess is that PS3 is towards the top end of that range and 360 towards the bottom but we can be fairly certain that the difference is still <1m units. Unless you don't believe the financials from one or other company we can't get away from the overall numbers being very similar.
It does beg the question - where are the 360 sales coming from? |
You do have a point. It's pretty annoying that both Sony and MS are now combining shipments of their current and previous gen systems. I don't believe that MS has 2 million 260's still on shelves. That would just be ridiculous. However, after their 3 million sold through X1's announcement that was immediately followed by their 3.9 million shipped X1's announcement, I get the impression that MS is not hesistant to overstuff the channels with either console.
Damn... VGChartz has dropped the ball BIG TIME with the 360 sales in Germany!

In context of how much ground the 360 gained worldwide after the OG Xbox, this is kinda scary. All that progress the 360 made for the brand... *swoosh*... gone. And the PS4 is outselling the X1 by more than 4:1 YTD in Germany. It's just a total massacre.
If someone cares, here are the numbers for the end of 2013:
http://www.cinemablend.com/games/PS4-Outsells-Xbox-One-Germany-By-150-000-Units-61585.html
PS4: 250k
X1: 100k
Meaning that on average the PS4 sold over 11k per week, while the X1 sold on average about 2,7k per week in 2014 until the end of June.
This could ironically mean that the X1s current weekly numbers in germany are actually too low, since vgchartz overtracking occurred in 2013 not 2014 where vgchartz actually has the numbers a little lower than GfK.
Vgchartz at more or less the end of 2013 (week ending December 28th) as a comparison:
PS4: 249k
X1: 128k
Well, this don't surprise me at all. We expected this to happen a year ago across Europe. A lot of people, including me, said PS4 was going to win 3:1 or 4:1 in Europe.
Xbox One won't reach 20mill LT in Europe like 360 did. In US won't reach 40mill like 360 did, maybe not even 30 mill. It will be surprising if Xbox One reach 60 mill WW LT in my opinion....
Meanwhile, PS4 is in the right direction to surpass 100mill LT easily, even without Japanese support. I'm still thinking PS4 will end between PS2 and PS1 numbers....
And after seeing those numbers, and discussing PS4 vs Xbox One WW numbers....I wonder how much bigger would be the gap if Japan was like previous generations??? Could be PS4 around 1-2 million more right now only in Japan??

It didnt seem like a big difference to me when i just saw those numbers, but actually - it's going from around 2:1 to 3:1 in Sony's favour, and it looks like it's dropping off for XBO. I expect with the stock issues now resolved, the gap to start to widen over the next few months.
terrible 360 tracking. Overtracked here and in the US by a lot and massively undertracked ( I lost count. 3? 4? 5? million) in the Others region and rest of Europe.
