Forums - Nintendo - Is Activision going to give up on the WiiU?

Some people don´t know that Skylanders actually sells better on Nintendo platforms.... oh well.....
...when the Wii is done, it will continue to sell on WiiU

Around the Network

Who cares i support Nintendo games and games that are actually interesting including 3rd party, I don't support garbage games that I have no interest in.

They'll continue to support it as long as their profits justify a port. How many units do you need to sell to break even on a port? 50k?

I don't think so. They will still release Skylanders, Call of Duty and other shit like that.

It´s Activision´s own fault that Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Nintendo Wii U does not sell good because their not supporting the Nintendo Wii U version, and they announced that before the game was released!!! And because DLC is very important for Call of Duty: Ghosts gamers, no one purchased the Nintendo Wii U version which has no DLC!!!

I knew this comment would pop up sooner rather than later.

They're not supporting the Wii U version because a whole four people purchased the game.  They're not going to spend time and money releasing DLC in the future when the game didn't sell well.  This specific DLC was free, but when porting the paid DLC over won't gain them a profit, you won't see that either.

--

Nintendo fans only buy first party games and sometimes exclusives, so third party developers should drop them.  It's a waste to support a fanbase that only cares about the latest rehash of Mario, Zelda, etc.

THE REASON NO ONE BOUGHT THE NINTENDO WII U VERSION WAS THAT ACTIVISION TOLD EVERYONE BEFORE THE GAME WAS RELEASED THAT THEY WILL NOT SUPPORT THE NINTENDO WII U VERSION WITH DLC!!! NO SUPPORT = NO SALES !!!

That's bullshit, and caps lock ain't gonna change that fact. I do agree (To a certain extent) that it's Acti's fault, if they wanted sales for the franchise on Nintendo systems they would have to go out of their ways to market it for the Wii U. They didn't, and this is the result. Also, quite a few Wii U owners are tiered of being sassed by third parties, so theystop buying their games.

but the other versions also have glitches. Even the PS54 had some minor framerate issues when it launched. Fixed with a patch. WIi U patch fixed the framerate issues on Ghosts also. You annot expect a game that comes out on 5 platforms to be glitch free unless they delay it for ages to get all the bugs out.

The issue is the audience is not there. The audience has left long ago. Hence why I said earlier Activision need to build a new audience on Wii U (i.e. Wii U owners only), however that will be hard or almost impossible as the console isn't selling that well and because most people these days have at least two consoles.

There was an audience, and there still is a potential one, but Activision is doing a fine job of driving them away.

no there isnt, the audience left and moved on to PS PC and MS systems long ago, the declining sales of COD games on Wii (and DS) and the fact that both PS4 and Xbone versions did much better the Wii U ones despite being launch titles prove this. THere not on WIi U it is what it is. ANd as for DLC, only 1/3 of the users even buy DLC still think its important.

I wonder what excuses people will use when Watchdogs flops on WIi U or at the very least does the worst and judging by preorders its doing the worst

Of course there's an FPS audience on Nintendo consoles. Besides the COD ports, Goldeneye 007 also did well on Wii. And DLC is important because of what it represents; equal treatment. Nintendo gamers got sick of being treated like crap.

Watch Dogs will flop on Wii U because it will be a shitty unoptimised 360 port on a system with just 5 million consoles in the wild.

sales prove otherwise, Goldeneye did well, thats one game out of many now how well did FPSs do on other systems keep in mind they both had much smaller install bases. You're grasping at straws, i tell you that most COD players dont even purchase DLC, now youre saying that its not about the actual DLC but what it represents? If thats the case then Acti might as well not even put the game on the system with that attitude.  Remember this is a buisness.

How do you know it will be unoptimised? they havent even shown it yet, its like your making excuses before it even drops

I agree about the DLC. Hell I even had FREE codes for one of them and couldn't care less and they eventually expired.

Not buying because of a representation is just stupid.

The only 3rd prty game that deserves a hammering in the last few months on Wii U is Batman. That shit was much inferior to the launch game (i.e.e textures, missing features and missing tablet stuff that was one before). To top it off it was outsourced to some d rated developer.

The rest like Deus Ex, COD, ACIV (ubisoft even released the special versions too and where kind enough to replace my sketchbook cause it was damaged), Rayman all are solid games with no more or less faults than their other console counter parts.

What sales? Both Cods on WII u flopped. COD did worst and worst as the years went on. Conduit 1 didnt sell as much as it should have and 2 was a straight up flop. GE is the only game released that actual did good. Hell we can go back on GC and you'll see that most 3rd party mulipats FPSs did worst on GC, and im talking compared to Xbox not PS2

You're just proven some peoples point of not even bothering, if you were not going to buy the DLC and from a stats stand point most people DONT why would that stop you from buying the game? It makes no sense. People are mad they dont have the option to buy something that they werent going to buy in the first place? a company should just waste time and resources to make them feel better? With that attitude some wonder why there arent alot of games on the system. Not to mention its the cheapest version but funny how people forget that (at least in the US)

YOu dont know nothing cause you've havent seen it, last time i checked people were innocent before proven guitly. You have NO evidence whatsoever. Its sounds like instead of just admiting what everyone knew for years that games like that simply dont do that well on Ninty platforms compared to the ohter systems, you rather just make up stuff that isnt even true. What was AC 4 excuse for flopping on WIi U again?

- COD3, World at War, Modern Warfare, Black  Ops, Goldeneye 007, all million plus selling FPS games on Wii. You don't cross a million where there is no audience.

- Nintendo gamers are pissed about being offered what they percieve as a sub par product.

- AC4 was a shitty unoptimised 360 port. Splinter Cell Blacklist was a shitty unoptimised 360 port. Batman Arkham Origins was a shitty unoptimised 360 port. COD Ghosts. COD BO2. AC3. Take a wild guess what Watch Dogs will be.

LOL...you make it sound like an amazing thing for Nintendo sell a million on a console that gained an installed based of a 100 million. Thats the problem...the games that were selling small amount were for the third party core market. Thats the point its NOT a third party core stomping ground. A game that sells twenty million elsewhere should not be applauded when it barely makes a million on the console with the largest audience all to itself. The you guys will defend Nintendo until the very end.

Over a million in sales cannot be achieved where there is "no audience."

You know full well companies like EA and Activision were hoping to expand their profits. They aren't going to reinvest in development, marketing or anything else where there isnt enough profit. For a game like COD thats barely profitable. COD is a AAA game.

If you're talking about making a ground-up exclusive COD for Wii/Wii U with the same obscene budget as they currently have, sure. But porting to Wii U is not an expensive process. Wii was a little costlier, but given that they did 5 Wii COD ports, they were obviously profitable.

I knew this comment would pop up sooner rather than later.

But looking at the sales of Lego City or Monster Hunter you can see that the fanbase cares for other games. But it is probably a waste to answer to comments that cheap out on a real discussion and try to enrage NIntendo-fans.

This. Die hard Nintendo fans just don't want to admit it. And it started in the GameCube era, even when the machine was just as powerful as the competition. Its definitely a demographics problem. Wasted opportunity on Nintendo's part seeing as most gamers started out on their systems.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Its the same damn game. Nintendos the only company forcing them to up-port and down-port. Why cant Nintendo just let them port a game smoothly? The profits must match the investment of the game itself.
