the seeds have already begun to be planted. Outside of Watchdogs i cant think of any next gen multiplat game thats coming to WIi U and even Watchdogs is cross gen

What next gen multiplat games exist so far? All I know are cross-gen games like FIFA or COD.

When last gen consoles lose the majority of the major support the Wii U can kiss the support goodbye. As I told someone before its blindly be obvious Nintendo is going to bite the dust with third party for coming out with a subpar powered console. Its also an underpowered console with no massive following so the third party doesn't even have incentive to create tailor made games for the Wii U.

Take heed that one of the lead developers of the Elder Scrolls online said the PS4 and Xbox One were not on the list of consoles to get the game. It was meant to be PC only, but when they found out that the consoles were up to snuff as far as power was concerned they were more than happy to make a console port of the game. The Wii U will NOT get anything because its power is not on par with next gen expectation but rather slightly above last gen and its Nintendos fault for not consulting with third parties when they developed the Wii U. Bethesda said it best I think despite the fact that they do make buggy games, but Skyrim was awesome.

I have multiple consoles including wii u. I'm not going to pay full whack for a version of a game that is weaker on wii u than ps3 or 360. We can pretend these games are lazy ports but considering we are getting the same results from multiple publishers and developers it is pretty obvious the wii u hardware is 360/PS3 level at best. To be honest I'm sick to death with the lazy port bullshit that is spouted by fanboys. They were stating it at the beginning and now a year on it's still happening. The wii u has always been very easy to develop for but unfortunately that doesn't help if the underlying hardware is weak.

I bought a wii u for Nintendo exclusives and other exclusives. Even at the beginning I only expected the wii u to marginally outperform 360 and PS3 and since then I've realised in many ways that was optimistic. It's just not that powerful and constantly repeating 'lazy port' will never change that. FFS it has a 3 core 32bit cpu running at 1.25ghz designed in the last century, even paired with a more modern GPU architecture than 360 or PS3 it is going to struggle. Wii u owners need to understand that in some ways the PS3 and 360 are more powerful and to pretend otherwise is just fanboy nonsense.

We haven't seen a single game yet that shows improved gpu or cpu power in the wii u. Need for speed most wanted has some improved textures no doubt thanks to higher memory capacity. However the wii u version has less online players and inferior sound support.

I'm not going to buy a wii u version of a game when the 360 version will probably cost less and play better.

If you bought a wii u to replace your wii and play mainly casual games or games aimed at a young audience you don't need COD, Assassin's Creed, Watchdogs etc.

If you are a avid gamer who has multiple consoles your not going to want a port of a major game running on weak hardware when you can play a better version on a different console often for less money.

All the wii u versions of multiformat games I have are inferior to 360/PS3 versions but apart from Sonic Transformed I bought them from the bargain bin. Sonic Transformed is near standard definition on wii u. It is only 1024x576, it's a higher res on 360 and PS3. Still a fantastic game worth every penny.

The reality is that it makes perfect sense that wii u console sales are low because it's only really worth buying if you love Nintendo games and multiformat game sales are low because the games perform poorly on wii u because of weak hardware not lazy ports. There is absolutely nothing surprising about the current situation.

It makes perfect sense for Activision to stop making COD games on wii u but not stop producing games aimed at a younger audience or casual games.

1. Wii had a massive following and yet fuck all was made tailored to the console. The best Wii games were actually PS2/GCN ports liek RE4 and Godfather. After that it was all waggle controls.

2. They did consult 3rd parties. The problem here was they consulted EA only with their unprecedented support. EA were prasing the console at E3. Then somehting fell apart which we won't argue on why and what as it has been argued to death.

Nintendo will never get the same third party support even if it had more powerful hardware without doing other things. They need to either expand their studios, buy out some 2nd parties and MONEY HAT 3rd parties to develop exclusives to try and bring people to their console to build up a bigger user base of gamers (not casuals). Basically they need to become what Microsoft was when it launched its console and wanted to establish itself in the market (without the huge losses obviously).  They need to start this now and work on building those relationships for next gen with ignoring EA;s input and listed to developers that matter.

1. Unbisoft tried and Sega did their best and both failed. COD didn't sell great at all. Third party core games could not sell on a 100 million selling console even when it was destroying its competition. As I said before, the WIi was not a core third party stomping ground. It was good for first party and Ubisoft broke the casual market making hand over fist with Just Dance. Thats what they want.

2.No. After E3 2012 it was clear that they consulted 3rd Parties properly only after the device was made. The media warned them about the coming of the other consoles and the rumored graphics they would have and Nintendo passed it off as a rumor and said "lets see what happens". They will once again be the odd man out because of it.

Nintendo is forced to moneyhat third parties because they KNOW third parties will not downport to the Wii U once the last gen consoles stop getting support. They screwed the pooch for themselves. Nintendo would've had ports but they jumped the gun. Nintendo DID NOT KNOW how powerful next gen consoles were expected to be by most of the top developers and publishers. They went cheap again and tried to get the tablet market and shave off the core market which already existed on the 360 and PS3 not realizing those gamers are mostly tired of the current gen and want next gen things. The head of Ubisoft was telling all console developers to come out with newer and more powerful hardware but Nintendo was ten steps ahead of them and had their own plans.

Look up Reggie on CNN when he was talking about how powerful the Wii U was and the reporter told her about the rumored power of the coming Playstation and Xbox and Reggie shrugged it off and said " We'll see". Nintendo does their own thing and they will be treated like the antisocial child at the dance. Nintendo will be have the smallest library once of games and they will be forced having a lot of second party titles on their dime. Essentially speaking Wii U is going to be like the Genesis. Because of the fact that their competition had all the third parties they will be forced to make more first party and buy second party to buffer their third party. This is how the Genesis survived agained the NES and SNES.

Agreed. As long as PS3 + 360 are supported, there is a big probability for a WiiU version, too. With more power and more "free" RAM than the 360 and PS3, ports to the WiiU don't require expensive hardware optimization.

But the next wave of multiplatform games and the leveldesign therein will probably expect 4 - 5 GB "free" RAM. The XBO, PS4 and mid-range PCs (and future laptops / entry-level PCs) can offer that resource, have similar architectures and power... the WiiU is very exotic hardware compared to that.

It's a waste to support a fanbase that only cares about the latest rehash of Mario, Zelda, etc.

Reported.

Reported the truth.

Truth hurts for some people. Nintendo makes great games. But they are re-hash of 20-30 year old games with same formula.

So when 3rd party's will drop ps3 and 360 support ? In two/three years time ? By this time Wii U will be at the end on its lifespan (I guess 5-6 years max). Sony and MS have designed their hardware with more years in mind than last gen consoles. I bet that in the year when they'll be no new CoD, BF, FIFA etc announced for the last gen, that will be the year when Nintendo announce new hardware (which presumably will be a bit better then PS4 one). So from that perspective, no harm done.

I don't think the comment was that bad, but it was off topic.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

That's a great selling point in 2014 (which is only a few days away): some 3rd party support probably until 2015, if we are lucky even 2016!
