Forums - Nintendo - Is Activision going to give up on the WiiU?

With 8 GB your wii U would be fast full with updates, aren't the dlc for COD aswell 1-2 GB each?

They don't sell 8 GB models anymore.   Haven't for quite a long while.

And I think the Wii U is the only 8th gen console that allows for external HDD's.

I think Japan has them packaged with Wii Party U and NSMBU among other things. They started bundling the basic model with family friendly games. Don't think you can buy the console separately anymore though.

OT: It's quite unlikely for Activision to drop full support for Nintendo as not all their games under perform. It's not looking good for COD but I don't know enough about budgets and resources to know whether or not the new installment would be worth it. It might be a nice thought to spread the Hyrule Warriors idea over to other games and genres. Keep the core of the game the same but add some Nintendo flavour to it so you can promote it as an exclusive. This does require some extra input from Nintendo, perhaps send a couple people over to Treyarch. (I feel as though this is a direction they are trying to move towards, that way they can promote the Wii U as the console to play all those great Nintendo exclusives on without alienating third parties.)

For me personally the series has become too stale. I recently got a chance to play Black Ops II and it just doesn't spark my interest as some other shooters in the past have been able to. Dropping support wouldn't be the worst thing in the world though I'd much rather see my scenario play out.

To Activision's credit, they have been one of the few major 3rd publishers supporting the WiiU. The other being Ubisoft. They've brought COD Ghosts, Skylanders, and The Amazing Spider-man over. But will they continue supporting them next year? They recently released free DLC for COD Ghosts on every platform BUT the WiiU. And it's not much, just an extra game mode that adjusts player health. You can't tell me they didn't have the time to update on WiiU as well. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the WiiU version of Ghosts only accounted for 0.3% of the total game's sales? Why would they bother with such a small userbase? Will Activision be the next publsher to jump ship?

The next amazing spiderman has been already confirmed, and the port of CoD is made by only 38 persons so is generating profits (small ones), but they will not provide DLC for the CoD version of Wii U because the testing is very expensive. So I don't think they will jump ship, but they will be selective with the games they will bring to the platform.

Reasonable. I agree with this post.

Its the same damn game. Nintendos the only company forcing them to up-port and down-port. Why cant Nintendo just let them port a game smoothly? The profits must match the investment of the game itself.

They didn't have to down-port or up-port to bring Black Ops 2 and Ghosts to Wii U. And since Ghosts was made, clearly Black Ops 2 turned a profit on Wii U.

It's WiiU owners fault, they don't want COD. They like skylanders though, and Activision will still bring it to wiiu.
But I don't know Ninty got money, and that's what Activision digs for !

the seeds have already begun to be planted. Outside of Watchdogs i cant think of any next gen multiplat game thats coming to WIi U and even Watchdogs is cross gen

What next gen multiplat games exist so far? All I know are cross-gen games like FIFA or COD.

Nintendo fans have to meet Activison half way. If the Ghosts sells well on WiiU, then they'll put more effort into next year's version. If it bombs then they could drop the system all together.

I did meet them halfway; I bought Ghosts on Wii U day 1.

Well you did your part. Now get the other 4 million WiiU owners to do theirs.

Sorry but why the beep should we? why should we buy games they put no effort whatsover in

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

There is NO excuse. Now I am seeing why they might have cut DLC. If the game doesn't meet the specific amount the expected percentage of people who buy DLC are half or less so on the Wii U there technically is no point. You guys have helped me understand the dilema entirely.

Porting it to the WiiU is effort. They may not spend as much time on it as the PS/Xbox versions, but that could change if the WiiU version does well. If people don't buy what Activision does put on the console, why would Activision bother porting anything else over?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
