Can the Wii U sell 100 million consoles?

Yes, easily. More like 120 million! 51 14.87%

Yes, just reach the elusive milestone. 39 11.37%

Maybe. Too early to call! 127 37.03%

No chance it will reach 100 million! 126 36.73%

Total:343

i dont think it will, because the other platforms have stolen some momentum from the wii, plus the wiiU will release in a time where the economy is better than (2006 -2008). when i bought my wii, i did not have money for a ps3 or xbox, now in 2010-2012 i sold my wii and i have xbox and ps3.

is not because i hate wii i loved it, but it didnt have the kind of games that i enjoy like halo or god of war and uncharted! and god!! something is wrong with the nintendo online network, it doesnt work. But i still enjoyed mario galaxy.

I am the new kid in town!!!

It depends on to many stuff, electronic products are reaching singularity.

There's not much need for a dedicated mp3 player nowadays, neither for a photographic device, or a recording camera. You have it all on smartphones, or tablets. Services like Gaikai and Onlive are a threat too.

Smartphones like Galaxy SIII and iPhone 5 can already produce visuals on par with PS360, by 2014-ish there will be tablets running Nvidia Kepler equivalent chips, which can handle PS4 downgraded ports and become a gaming device for itself.

Too many factors going around this gen. The Wii U, with its assymetric gameplay, so far is the only gaming device that feels you can't have that experience anywhere else. If PS4 and X720 are mere graphical upgrades like Ps1-Ps2-PS3, then those consoles may be in trouble due to this singularity were are reaching with electronics.

Wii U can do well. I predict its lifetime sales will be between 20 and 200 mil.

Bold prediction. I'm not sure that happens.

You're right. Too many variables; best to be safe. I'll revise that to between 10 and 250 mil.

Dark_Lord, that's impossible.

50 million is a reasonable target.

I see it doing well, around 80-90m but not in the same set of time that we saw the wii achieve that feet.

I simply don't see the majority of casual wii owners adopting this system, I think that portion of their audience will be split between, neglecting console gaming all together, buying a 360/kinect, buying the 720/kinect 2 and getting a ps3 slim.

I still think they'll reach wii numbers eventual becuase in 2 years time when the system is $199 and it has zelda, mario kart, super smash bros etc I think most core gamers will pick it up as a secondary console.

No, I doubt even Wii will hit it.

It all depends on the competition (and nowadays that's not Sony and MS alone; you got phones and tablets as well). And I don't think it'll reach 20 mil in it's first year; more likely 10-15m. Perhaps it'll sell 20m in 2014 - IF there isn't that much of a graphic leap.

At minimum it'll sell 40m, and maximum it'll get to 120m... so let's say 75m ;)

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I don't think so.

I don't think it will. There is a lot of temptation to think that what happened this generation will repeat in the next. I think just as people over-estimated the PS3 and under-estimated the Wii they will over-estimate the Wii U, The Wii U has significant competition and the casual gamer now has the option of playing games on tablets as well as with the Xbox and Playstation as both Sony and Microsoft have learnt the value of this market.

To be honest I think that Nintendo have been successful inspite of their hardware decisions and not at all because of them. I don't think they made the right decision with the tablet, however their brand recognition and momentum is still strong enough to assure them minimum 30-40M sales, anything more depends on luck, games and the actions of their competitors. In the end I believe they'll sell about 50-70M

Tease.

I don't think it will sell like wii because i think wii u is less innovative then wii and it has many port of ps3/xbox360 game

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
