even if wii u fails to reach wii like sales I'm pretty sure it will equal or outperform this gens hd consoles...I predict at least 70-80 million lifetime (at least...so to me 100 million or over isn't too far fetched)...

agreed

I don't think it will sell 100 million, but who knows?

to reach such numbers again this time will depend on the other 2 making stupid decisions. Fo now around 60M looks beliveable if they keep the good streak of games.

"Also, if Nintendo is adamant on their new resolution to sell the Wii in South America and Eastern Europe, it can even go on to sell 120m."

Wii will definitely sell in 'new' markets it hasn't been to yet. Why do you think PS2 got to 150m?

Wii is no PS2, PS2 sold 33% of its total shipments this gen. Wii barely sells anymore, it will not start selling. Sony is active in more markets than Nintendo.

Yes that was the point. If Nintendo would also sell in these regions like Reggie has been insinuating recently it will sell more.

I wasn't debating Wii = PS2, excuse me if that wasn't clear. It's obvious those numbers are way out of reach by now.

In the past 30 years they were never active in those markets. I don't see them selling Wii now, this late with all focus on WiiU, and Sony's dominance in those markets.

All they have to do is make the system, which is cheap now, and it's library availabe in those regions. They don't need to put alot of focus on it to do that.

Considering how popular Wii was, new markets that have yet to really experience it will probably be interested.

If the competition is shitty then yes, it is perfectly possible. If the competition is strong (around the same levels as this generation) I wouldn't expect sales to go much further than 70 million. Not even with great support.

Look, this is not my idea.

Reggie himself mentioned selling the Wii in new markets. Sony is only 'dominating' there because they are the only ones in the game. Even there the PS2 runs out of steam by now. It doesn't matter if they've never touched those markets in the last 30 years. There is a first for everything, the Wii there would be a new thing. I think they should do it, what's to lose?

Well, I'm hearing Wii is already available in Latin america, in Chile for example.

I think the answer is no and no.  They won't reach 100 million and they won't repeat the success of the wii..  They'll have a much better type of success.  I think they'll sell somewhere are 60 million in 6 years and make more money of each of those 60 million Wiiu's than the did off of the 100 million Wii's. Nobody purchased games for Wii. Or atleast is was quite rare. Most Wii owners just bought the system for Wii Sports..  So they'll have a different kind of client this team around. Comparisons to the Wii don't mean mean. It is a different type of console which targets the market differently.

I don't think so. Wii U is in a comparable situation to the SNES, that its superior to its predecessor but won't sell as much. Still think Ninty will be #1 again but competition is getting stronger, despite Sony's decline, b/c of Microsoft. Imagine if they never had their RROD issues that hurt their rep, there would be at least a 10 mil gap ahead of PS3 IMO.
