1. I have to respectfully disagree on this part, sir.  In the trailer when she says he's given them everything, it sounds to me like she's the one telling him to call it quits while Bruce is trying to convince her that it's not time yet.

2. Can't take the credit for it, unfortunately haha.  I've watched the movie probably 100 times, but I didn't catch that until IGN brought it up today.  It would make sense though.  He's a new character that was suddenly important, not to mention that 'Coleman Reese' is sort of a strange name for someone to just think of randomly.  Also, Riddler has often been depicted as working for Wayne Enterprises, and he's certainly brilliant enough to figure out who Batman is.

3. It's already confirmed that he's gonna be in it :)

1. Ah, so it it's differences in interpretation. With Nolan, however, there always seem to be an underlying basis.
2. Still, you're the one who brought this to my, and probably other VGC members' attention.
3. LOL, A fail on my part; mah badd~

Bruce Wayne dies in the first 20 min. Leonardo Dicaprio's character puts on the uniform and takes over the role to defeat Bane.

Edit: I don't think it will outgross TDK.

What? Predecessors of movies almost always do better than the first. Especially one of this caliper! The Dark Knight Rises will for sure surpass The Dark Knight.

You mean successors.

One must consider the immense hype behind this movie (youtube, facebook, other places on the internet, everyday life). Last time, Heath's (unfortunate) death, got people talking about the film a lot and his role and so on but this time, we know these films are some of the greatest hero movies of our time.

Plus, we have Bane, which is admittedly not as big a villain as the Joker BUT this time around we know Hardy is a phenomenal actor (OK, we knew Heath was good, but would he fit the role?) and what we've seen of Bane in the trailers is shockingly amazing.

The third thing to consider is that the 'overseas' market has grown immensely since TDK released and I expect this movie to really tap a lot more into that. So, while it might stay flat or slightly down compared to TDK in US and A, it will almost definitely outgross it 'overseas'.

I don't doubt that it will outgross TDK outside of the US, but I don't think it will do as well as TDK did in the US. Very few movies have the staying power to be a numer one in the box office for so long. If Avengers hadn't stomped the ground so hard earilier this year, then TDKR might have had more of a chance, or if they had a 3D version of TDKR, with the higher price it might outgross TDK, but I don't think it will sell as many tickets.

Though I would be happy if your right, but I would be even more happy if TDKR can come anywhere close to being as awesome as the first two were.

I think Bane and Batman will form a sexual relationship and then retire and go to the Bahamas for the rest of their days

My theory (as I am re-reading the entire "No Man's Land" storyline in the comics:

Batman is going to be out of action. A secondary character (John Blake) sees that Gotham City needs a Batman and attempts to fill the shoes. Bane comes in and kicks all kinds of ass in his attempts to take down Batman, including freeing all of the prisoners from Arkham Asylum (as he did in Knightfall). Bane crosses paths with John Blake and doesn't think he's a worthy opponent (much like he did when he crossed Azrael in Knightfall). Also, Bane has deduced that Bruce Wayne is Batman--possibly because of that guy who figured out Batman's ID in the last movie OR Ra's Al Ghul. Remember, Bane was once Ra's Al Ghul's chosen one after Batman refused the role.

Hear's where "No Man's Land" comes in: In the trailers, they show us the bridges to Gotham City being blown. This happened in that storyline as Gotham was cut off from the rest of the world. Everybody was fighting for control of the city, including the police. Meanwhile, Batman was nowhere to be found. Gotham was condemned after a disease outbreak (caused by Ra's Al Ghul) and an earthquake (Caused by God). I see an earthquake in the trailers--or something that makes a football field fall apart--and I suspect this is Ra's work in this movie.

Anyway, in Knightfall, Bane broke Batman. Batman's replacement (Azrael) rose up to defeat Bane. Batman's replacement turned bad and Batman had to return to take down "Az-Bats". Of course, that story took place over the course of two years.

For the movie, I think it will go like this: Bane comes in, beats down Azrael (or whoever John Blake is going to be). We find out that Ra's Al Ghul is actually behind everything. Batman comes back to take down Bane.

Interesting!  I haven't read the comics very much, so I didn't know that.  That strikes me as a storyline that is very plausible for this movie.  Especially when you hear Bane say "I'm Gotham's reckoning" in the trailers.

I don't know if I would agree that they'd go with the 'breaking the villains out of Arkham' story this time, though.  Thematically it would make sense.  However, they'd have to explain why Joker wasn't among them, since they went to great pains in TDK to show that he was locked up instead of killed.  And I don't think Nolan wants to go anywhere near that topic.

The thing that made me think Bane is going to break out the prisoners is that early trailer that showed all of these inmates walking out of a prison with machine guns in their hands.

Of course, my guesses leave plenty of things wide open.  What role will Catwoman play?  What about the obvious scene of Bane standing over a brutalized Bruce Wayne?  What is that prison-like place that Bruce Wayne winds up in?

I can't wait to see the movie and find out what I got right and what I got very, very wrong!

Breaking out the inmates could turn into Zsasz making a return from Batman Begins.

GOOD OBSERVATION!  And Mr. Zsasz was one of the inmates that gave Batman the hardest time in Knightfall!

Bruce Wayne doesn't die. Christian Bale did an interview not too long ago where he changed his tune and said he would be willing to do another Batman movie if Chris Nolan had something really good bad. Christoper Nolan still maintains that this is his final Batman movie though.

Ah, but who knows?  Maybe he's trying to trick us ;)

Anyhow, I had another (more minor) thought.  We know Batman has been out of comission for eight years.  Moonhero brought up Bruce's dad's "Why do we fall" line.  The phrase wasn't even referenced in Dark Knight, but it seems like the kind of thing that would come back into play in the end.  Batman fell at the end of Dark Knight.  It may have been willingly, but the fact remains that few will now regard him as a hero.

"Why do we fall?  So we can learn to pick ourselves back up."  Well, what's the opposite of falling?

Rising.

Jesus the movie is nearly 3 hours long! 167 minutes and 20 seconds.

I really wish Batman wasn't out of commission for 8 years because now we have to go through all the crap that convinces him to come back.

One of the good things about sequels is you don't have to bother with origin stories. The hero's motivation and powers are all established. Don't make us wait to see them in action.

I don't think it will be that long before he's back in action--I'd say half-an-hour at the most.  They've got to fit in stories of Bane and Catwoman for sure, as well as possibly Ra's, Zasz, Riddler, Azrael, and who knows how many other villains, not to mention anything that goes on with Gordon, how Harvey's death and preserved legacy has affected Gotham, and just what the hell becomes of Batman at the end of all this.

So, while he may not instantly be back to his full power after a half-hour, I don't think they'll spend too long at least getting him back into the fight.
