Last time, Heath's (unfortunate) death, got people talking about the film a lot and his role and so on but this time, we know these films are some of the greatest hero movies of our time. Plus, we have Bane, which is admittedly not as big a villain as the Joker BUT this time around we know Hardy is a phenomenal actor (OK, we knew Heath was good, but would he fit the role?) and what we've seen of Bane in the trailers is shockingly amazing. The third thing to consider is that the 'overseas' market has grown immensely since TDK released and I expect this movie to really tap a lot more into that. So, while it might stay flat or slightly down compared to TDK in US and A, it will almost definitely outgross it 'overseas'. |
I don't doubt that it will outgross TDK outside of the US, but I don't think it will do as well as TDK did in the US. Very few movies have the staying power to be a numer one in the box office for so long. If Avengers hadn't stomped the ground so hard earilier this year, then TDKR might have had more of a chance, or if they had a 3D version of TDKR, with the higher price it might outgross TDK, but I don't think it will sell as many tickets.
Though I would be happy if your right, but I would be even more happy if TDKR can come anywhere close to being as awesome as the first two were.
