Welcome to the Official Super Mario Maker Thread
Launching on september 11th, Super Mario Maker is an upcoming Wii U game that will allow players to create their own 2D mario levels and share them online, however a level cannot be share unless the creator can beat it. Leves will also need the approval of nintendo moderators in order to be share. Before we talk about what this thread is about let's take a quick look at all the important information we need to know about the game.
Super Mario Maker will feature four game styles (Up GIF) and six course styles (Down GIF). Each game style will have it's own music, objects and mechanics.
The game will offer plenty of tools for players to mess with, however the full set of tools won´t be available from the beginnig, instead every 15 minutes you play a new set of tools will be unlocked
Here´s how the set looks after 30 minutes of play
Here´s how it looks after 135 minutes of play
You can create your own sound as well!
The game will have amiibo support in the form of customs, each one with it's own animation and ending theme
There will be two types of challenges, Create the level and beat the level(s) please make sure to read the rules if you want to participate
Create the level
So here´s the deal, participants of this challenge will have one week to create a level based on the specific criteria of the challenge. The winner will be decided by all of us, as anyone can play the level and give it a score from 1 to 5 and the level with the highest overall score will win. Second and third highest rated levels will also receive points in the scoreboard. Something important to consider is if you are not creating a level but you want to play and rate the participants levels you are going to play and rate ALL OF THEM. Participants of the challenge also have to play and rate all leves
The first challenge will take place from friday 18th to friday 25th of the current month, no levels will be accepted past the 25th. The scores however can be submitted until sunday 27th. The winner will be announced on Monday 28th. To rate the levels you can either post the scores on the thread of send them to me on a PM
The criteria of the first challenge is: AMIIBO. Select the amiibo you want and create the level based on the character you selected. Players can´t choose the same amiibo so be sure to select as fast as possible. You don´t need to have the amiibo you choose to create the level so pick whoever you want (except Samus because that´s my pick)
Beat the level
If you plan on participating in this challenges please share your NNID
Rules will be updated once the game releases and I can see exactly how the sharing system works
In the weekly challenge players will have 2 hours to beat 2 leves, the winner will be whoever beat the levels in the shortest time, not the one who beats them first. I decided to put a 2 hour limit so more people get the chance to compete on this challenge. I will be creating the levels of the first week however the winner of the first competition will be in charge of making the levels for the next week.
Monthly challenges will be held most likely the last saturday of each month, and players will have 1 hour to beat 4 levels. The winner will be whoever beats the levels in the shortest amount time, not the one who beats them first. Just like the weekly challenge, I will be creating the levels for the first month, and the winner of the first competition will in charge of making the levels for the next month.
The marathon challenge is only going to happen with your help, as it will consist on beating 50 levels. Players wil have a full day to beat all this levels, the winner will be the one who completes the most levels. Of course I won't be able to make all 50 levels so if you want to participate you will have to donate 5 levels to the marathon challenge.
Each challenge will award players with points, only winners of the weekly and monthly challenges will get points, however all participants of the marathon challenge will recieve points dependig on how many levels they can beat.
Again, rules will be updated once the game launches. This challenges will begin the first week of october.
If you have your own ideas for challenges, please let me know.
