Forums - Movies & TV - Bad movies that are still great fun

You know the kind; those movies that may be cheesy as hell, full of ludicrous writing, hammy acting, or ropey production values, but are still wildly entertaining.

What are some of your favourite movies that are kinda bad, but a fun time nonetheless?

The only one that I’ve been able to “get” is The Room. I was even finally able to go to a
a screening, throw spoons, play football, and so Oh Hai Mark. He was even at the screening (Greg Sostero) and was a pretty decent fellow during the whole affair.

I enjoy watching and laughing at all of the modern day fat Steven Seagal films. Great stuff.

The Scary Movie franchise is often on lists of worst movies ever made, but I had an insane good time with my friends watching them. And I still laugh at the jokes.

Tucker and Dale Vs Evil isn't technically a bad film but it feels really low budget and somehow off, it feels like it wants to be a bad film and it does it well leading to one of the best comedies.

Cutthroat Island back in the day

And the Resident Evil movies

yep, Troma Films are da best.   Off the top of my head, here are some favorites:

1.  Cannibal, the musical!   - The southpark guys have a mock-musical about one of the literal handful of people in the USA convicted of cannibalism

2.  Toxic Avenger -  Toxie kicks ass and takes names

3.  Street Trash-  homeless people dissolving into puddles of toxic waste

I usually have no interest in 'deliberately bad' movies like the Sharknado series; they just feel like excuses to not even try to me. There are exceptions, though. I found Black Dynamite, for example, to be absolutely fucking hilarious and it's become one of my favorite comedies. Same with Kung Pow for always getting a rise out of my inner juvenile.

I know a lot of people view it as a genuine classic these days, but Schwarzenegger's The Running Man fell into the 'so bad it's good' camp for me back when I watched it. Maybe I should give it another watch before the upcoming remake.

As for movies that didn't intend to be bad but failed beautifully, I watched Samurai Cop recently and it's everything the clips promised. I haven't watched many others all the way through but I probably should at some point.

I remember those SS films and they all had you buy into the idea that he was the best akido guy in existence.  Those Riddick films sort of did the same thing, almost worshiping the subject but narcissism is endemic in holywood so whatever.
