What specifically are you hinting at here? What are we strapping in for?

COD on Gamepass boost? GTA6 boost?

I wasn't even thinking about CoD that much(but there will be a boost), GTA6(who knows when this will actually release) will bring a little for the budget purchasers(Series S/XD.Gamepass)maybe more, but it is probably more dependent on release date. The end of year offerings isn't looking too shabby, and 2025 is looking stellar.  Most calculations are being made on a downwards curve(which is reasonable), I'm not convinced.

30 million Xbox gamers still haven't upgraded yet, 10 million more of that crowd purchasing a Series console isn't farfetched (only a 3rd). Looking at the Playstation numbers tells me they are not migrating that direction.  I'm still under the belief that games move hardware and not everyone is willing to adopt PC yet.

Xbox did not have a stellar opening this generation.  It doesn't appear that it has any intention of ending it that way.

40 million+ will be made.

2mins 10sec into it.

He has the PS5 at 61.7m and the Xbox Series at 28.3m sold through, as of September 2024.
(our site has Series consoles ~1.8m higher, and PS5 about ~200k higher)

It's no secret that the Xbox Series is in trouble; sales are dwindling, and there seems to be little on the horizon that could boost them.

In the recent article on Xbox's sales and revenue, a couple of folks made the claim that the console won't even make it to 40 million; another 12 million units from where it currently stands at 28.17 million.

What do you think, will it pass this threshold, or fall short, and why do you think so?

When has the  XBOX not been in trouble??

They've gone from Microsoft taking advantage of the XEON processor wrt to the horrendous pricing that MS required, to the RROD, to the current generation's mediocrity which is at such a point that they will eventually give up and withdraw from selling a console.

The challenge will be how they will get people to use its online service after they pull out.  Can they compete against Steam? As with all stories, time will tell.

Given the way worse generation we are now in in terms of software compare to the previous ones, I really wonder how PS5 is almost on PS4 level sales. So I won't be surprised if it is thanks to Xbox gamers migrating to PS. So we can't know that for sure.

Depends if they release their successor early.
