Switch Ships 132.46 Million Units as of September 2023

Nintendo has released its latest hardware and software figures for the Nintendo Switch through September 30, 2023. Shipment figures for the Nintendo Switch reached 132.46 million units, while 1,133.23 million Switch games have been shipped lifetime.

For the quarter ending September 30, 2023, Nintendo shipped 2.93 million Switch units and 44.88 million Switch games.

Breaking down the 132.46 million lifetime shipped figure for the Switch, it has shipped 51.03 million units in the Americas, 34.15 million in Europe, 31.77 million in Japan, and 15.51 million in the rest of the world.

The regular Nintendo switch model accounts for 90.83 million units of the 132.46 million Switch consoles shipped worldwide. The Switch Lite accounts for 21.92 million units and the Switch OLED accounts for 19.71 million units.

Nintendo's forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024 remains at 15.00 million. If Nintendo is able to hit its forecast it would bring lifetime Switch shipment figures to 140.62 million at the end of March 2024. This would be 13.4 million behind lifetime sales of the Nintendo DS.

Nintendo for the six month period ending September 30, 2023 reported net sales were up 21.2 percent to ¥796.24 billion ($5.30 billion) and operating profit grew 27.0 percent to ¥279.91 billion ($1.86 billion).

2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 43.38 million
3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 32.44 million
4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 31.15 million
5. Super Mario Odyssey – 26.95 million
6. Pokémon Sword / Pokémon Shield – 26.02 million
7. Pokémon Scarlet / Pokémon Violet – 23.23 million
8. Super Mario Party – 19.66 million
9. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - 19.50 million
10. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 16.70 million

Other Nintendo Switch first-party sales:

• Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury – 12.58 million
• Nintendo Switch Sports – 10.77 million
• Pikmin 4 - 2.61 million

Almost 20M for Tears of the Kingdom already... who would have thought a Zelda Game could get to such heights, let alone the 31M of BotW, 10 years ago?

Also crazy to think that when the Switch is done one would need over 20M sales to be in the top 10...

2.93 million for Q2 is the same as it sold in Q2 of FY2017-2018, and only slightly down from FY2018-2019 and last year; good result.

Any news about Mario Wonder sales?

Should reach over 140 million by December 31st and Switch will most likely join the 150 million plus club

Looks like the Nintendo Switch will outsell the Nintendo DS and the PlayStation 2 next year.

Wow didn't expect tears of the kingdom to slow down so hard.

Honestly I expected the Switch to have a bigger drop in hardware sales this quarter YOY, closer to 2.5M. The fact that it still sold close to 3M on a relatively quiet quarter where the TOTK hype died down, no major game releases,no new hardware models, and was on the eve of a Switch value-added bundle is impressive. Barely a drop compared to last year this quarter and last year had Splatoon 3 launch that quarter with a Splatoon hardware model.
For the fiscal year the Switch is slightly up compared to last which is crazy for a console in its 7th year. Definitely feel like Nintendo low-balled their 15M forecast I think it should comfortably be closer to 16M this fiscal year.

TOTK now at 19.5, lower than I expected at this point I was expecting closer to 22M, but regardless still will sell very well as an evergreen title.
Still shocks me how there's been 0 oversaturation with Mario Kart, now at 57M sold and 65M sold when including the Wii U version. I think it should be able to pass Pubg's 75M to become the 3rd bestselling non-bundled game of all time.
Other than that, no surprises on the software side, everything is selling well as you'd expect.
