To be completely honest for a moment, and not meant as an insult, the fact that so many people are not even willing to make the minimal effort to wear a mask while they go shopping, etc, is probably one of the most demoralizing things I've ever witnessed in my life.
But I think a lot of it comes down to people having misconceptions about how a virus spreads, and what masks do.
A few months ago in another thread, OP asked why she had to wear a mask since she's vaccinated.
That's because even if you're vaccinated, you can still contract the virus and spread it to others, before seeing any symptoms.
What a vaccine mainly does is drastically lower your chances of having symptoms if you contract the virus. And if you do, it drastically lowers your chances of getting severe symptoms. And if you do, it drastically lowers your chances of needing an ICU bed. And if you do, drastically lowers your chances of dying, etc.
A single person wearing a mask is also more about protecting the other person, than protecting yourself.
Only when you both wear masks, do both people get vast protection from virus transmission.
Which is why we need as many people as possible to participate.
But there are always going to be people who just refuse to do their part in almost any issue. Hence the mandates.
Take this as a rough estimate of how it works:
This is why doctors wear masks all day long, without complaining, when they treat their patients.
The Covid topic is dead. That was used in 2020 to fortify the election.
Yes. The entire world did so for the election, in the one and only country that exists.Last edited by Hiku - on 13 February 2022
