Forums - Sales Discussion - The Road to 160m+ for Nintendo Switch

Prediction: The Nintendo Switch will sell 365mil LTD. There is no Switch successor, Furakawa was simply acting in jest. And Pikmin 5 will sell 50mil units at launch. Donald Trump will bring a Nintendo Switch Lite to the debate in October, and that’ll send sales figures through the roof.

My dream for this holiday would be a new switch sku similar to the gba sp. pocket size clamshell. They will likely just release a smaller version of the lite though.

I would love if Nintendo released a Switch Home box, and a Switch Go pocket size sku that could be paired as both primary but only one could be on at the same time. You could use the Switch Go as a controller for the box. $99 for the Switch Home, $129 for the switch go. Sell them together in a bundle. Destroy Christmas and the 160m threshold. Sadly I think we will just see a smaller version of the switch lite and a 50$ price reduction for existing skus. Likely og switch discontinued.

This is a dream scenario but that's actually a fun idea.  I think doing anything this holiday boosts sales quite a bit.  Something as lazy as a price drop and a bundle, or a little more work with a special edition of some kind.  A Smash Ultimate & Splatoon 3 bundle like the Wii U had would be sick.

That's coming right at the same time as the $249 PS5s and the $99 Series S, so there might be some competition in that regard :)

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or sarcastic.

if serious - wow. It would definitely be conpetitive. I’d pick up a series s for 99 over any switch offering. I already have a ps5 - got it first day.

if Sony can get costs down to 220 so retailer can get profit that would be amazing.

I doubt PS5 can be discounted to 200$ or even 250$ even if you want 5 years from now. The most they will discounted it will be 399$ for the disc version and 349$ for the digital one. Series I can see at 199$ of course in the end of the gen maybe when the new successor has come out, so it will some years from now, and the Series X no lower than 399$.

It seems like Nintendo will still be producing Nintendo Switches in 2027 and beyond according to this news. Four million annually units is on their plans

"The factory will specialise in manufacturing and assembling electronic components and devices with an annual output of four million Nintendo Switch console sets, 30,000 air data sensors for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), 30,000 UAV controllers, 60,000 UAV engine modules, and 60,000 UAV signaling and lighting systems

Under the plan, construction is slated to take place from January 2025 to June 2026, while equipment will be installed from July to September 2026. Foxconn plans to start trial production in October-December 2026 and put the project into operation in January 2027.

As reported by Financial Times, Nintendo makes almost all of its Switch consoles in China through several contract manufacturers, including Foxconn. Nintendo has been considering diversifying its China-heavy Switch production to Vietnam due to the US-China trade tensions since 2019."

Nintendo releases their financial report for Q2F'25 this Friday (8-2) (around 2am EST...if ChatGPT is a reliable source). It'll be interesting to see how well the Switch has been holding up since the last update (as well if Nintendo will provide any updates on Switch successor).
