On topic, now idea where my list was but adding Horizon Forbidden West.

A great game and worth while sequel with what I think sadly had too much extra systems (they didn't need upgrades and so many extra weapons) and a more convoluted story it didn't need.

Adding, Platinumed this.

Hmm, pie.

Just Finished: LocoRoco Midnight Carnival (PS5)

This is one game I was definitely not expecting to play on my PS5. An emulated version of the game was made available for PS Plus Premium subscribers. I forgot that I had originally bought the game on PSP so I was surprised the game was available for me to download for free. I have tried my hand at a number of other Loco Roco games before but I think this is the only one I have completed. It is a spin-off and was a digital only release back in 2009. It is smaller in scale than the original 2 games. It is a fun unconventional platformer. The 2D visuals looks sharp and crisp in HD. However they did not redraw or upscale the text, which appears very blurry and pixelated. Seems like a lazy cop out for what should not be too difficult to fix. Also it would have been nice if they added Trophies but alas they didn't. The game is very difficult and tricky to complete. If not for the rewind feature I would never have been able to complete this game. The music is catchy and charming. The controls can frustrate sometimes but the fun outweighs the hassle. The game is divided into different levels and you have to tilt the environment to help your LocoRoco character reach the goal and pick up more friends along the way. The level design is inventive and leans into a Halloween theme. The art direction, music, and visuals are all so whimsical and joyful that it makes the game fun to experience even when you are constantly failing to clear obstacles or reach new platforms. Still its an enjoyable entry into a PlayStation series that we don't see much of anymore. I thought a game like this would be better suited for a portable device but I was engrossed playing it on my big screen TV. I didn't try the multiplayer but playing solo was fine. This is such a cute game and a welcome stroll down memory lane.

Score: 7/10

Just Finished: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (NSO)

The oldest Zelda game that I have completed to date. It is definitely a huge evolution over the original Zelda and set the foundation for many series staple features. It did feel a tad antiquated compared to The Minish Cap, which is the only other solo 2D Zelda game I have finished. The music is pretty good and the sound design is impressive for a SNES game. The over world is large, sprawling, and packed with hidden details. I played the game by following along to a video walkthrough. So much of the shit you do in this game seems to be random and arbitrary that I am quite sure that I would never have been able to beat it on my own. The number of items to collectand the way the game asks you to use them is fun and rewarding. The boss battles are pretty epic for a 2D sprite based game. The dark world is eerie and strange. I got a great overview of many of the games secrets and quirks. The lore was sort of interesting but I did not pay close attention to it. I don't have nostalgia for this game but maybe it was truly groundbreaking at the time which is why it is often listed as one of the greatest games ever made. I admit I don't hold it in such high regard but it is nice to cross another classic Zelda/Nintendo game off my list.

Score: 8/10

Just Finished: Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (PS5)

Another Call of Duty game. The reason I bought this as one of my first games for PS5 is because I thought it had a co-op campaign a la Black Ops III. I was incorrect. The campaign is single player only but the marketing message wasn't very clear on this issue. Anyway its good to have a COD game on deck just so you have something fast and easy to jump into online multiplayer when the mood strikes. Zombies mode is a complete mess. I don't understand what is going on. The maps are too large and the objectives and story are unclear. It's too chaotic to be fun. I missed when this mode was condensed, strategic, and suspenseful. This game is a direct follow up to the original Black Ops game, which I liked back in the day. The story mode makes good use of Cold War era intrigue and paranoia. There are some added elements of choice with optional objectives, dialogue trees, and a certain amount of customization to allow you to make your play experience unique. It all comes back to the shooty shooty though. The stealth sections are a tad annoying but better than any I have experienced in a previous COD game. The story steals ideas from better games namely Bioshock and its kinda funny the devs think they can get away from it. Following a Soviet boogeyman named Perseus with a plot that doesn't get properly resolved is a tad annoying. One wonders if they plan to continue this game and storyline. Multiplayer is where this game really shines and it does so with a back to basics approach. No fancy futuristic weapons or abilities, just fun gameplay on mostly well designed maps. I think this is the first COD game where I have a positive K/D ratio and my W/L ratio ain't too bad either. It's really fun to play with a friend. It is the fastest I have ever prestiged in a COD game and yet I still want to keep playing. The game has a massive file size though. Between the different modes, the language audio, and optional high quality texture pack the game takes up more than a quarter of my PS5 SSD space. Thankfully it allows you the option of deleting the file elements you don't need. This game is not amazing but it is solid. I don't have any interest in Vanguard or Modern Warfare II so this is probably the only COD game I'll be playing for a while.

Score: 7/10
