Forums - Sales Discussion - Global Hardware July 4-10 - PS5 Sales Top 10 Million

RIP international 3DS sales, though I remember you saying they would be limited to Japan now.

Switch and PS5 fought to an near impasse in Europe.

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

Switch sales are noticeably down in Japan, which accounts for most of the drop from 400k-ish to 350k-ish. Considering the OLED model is aimed toward handheld users, it seems like sales are down in Japan because of the OLED model announcement.

10 million lucky people have been able to buy a PS5.

Xbox Series X|S hits 6 million next week.

.1% up is actually just kind of funny to me

PS5 is killing it in Europe as usual.

PS5 is #1 in EU. EU is back to being Sonyland...(dependent on future stock). Switch being #1 in EU was only temporary during the PS4 and PS5 stock transition period. This week is just a sign of the future. I don't like current Sony, btw, so no bias, just sales.

So things go back as usual in US (PS5 vs Series X/S).

Normal for the last generation, but normal is a very relative term in North America, it's the most volatile and hotly contested of the major regions. PS4 outsold Xbox One there, but 360 sold PS3. PS5 vs XS might still be a close race there, depending on how the gen plays out.

I think this week shows very clearly that in the US for now, PS5 & XBS sales are just dependent on which gets more stock each week it seems. Seen a lot of people over the last few weeks saying "Xbox is taking back its throne" cuz it was ahead for a few weeks when we rly cant tell which system will actually win out over here for now, wouldn't be too surprised either way it ends up going eventually
