Forums - Nintendo - 3DS has ended production

Ultimately I think Nintendo will kind of look back upon it as a bit of a dissapointment but it did carve out a decent userbase.

Launching the same week that horrible tsunami/earthquake/nuclear disaster hit Japan was kind of an ominous sign for the 3DS.

Almost 10 years.

Just to put that into perspective, it existed concurrently with the Wii, WiiU and Switch!

It lasted for a pretty good amount of time and even had some late-gen marvels on it. I am in the minority when I say, that I actually liked it far more than the DS and it's one of my favorite handhelds of all time

Well, whatever new number we get in Nintendo's next update for the figures as of September 30th - That will be the final tally for the 3DS.

It's at 75.87m shipped as of June 30th, so it'll probably finish up just below 76 million.

I have been looking to buy a new system (any model) for at least half a year now, but haven't been able to find them anywhere. Does anyone know of anywhere with stock in the UK? I saw Argos had some a couple of months ago, but not at any of the locations near me.

Why not just get one from ebay?

I was looking to find a new console at retail price, the prices on ebay are pretty high. I may just have to settle for a used system.

Great system. Hope the Switch has a similar life cycle

Great system. Before the Switch the system I liked the most (but I wasn't a console gamer for long, started with the Wii). With a good library of titles I liked and playing also the DS-library it is a great system. Haven't played for a while, because my Switch took over.

Good little system! has atleast 40 good to great RPGs, and some decentish puzzle games too.
