Sony has already stated that for at least the immediate future they're more worried about profitability than dropping price. They're also still winning NPD 9-10 out of 12 months, and utterly dominating globally. There's really no need to drop the price when you're holding all the cards, especially when you can reserve a price cut for a holiday push (if need be).

Actually didn't they state that one of there main goals was to increase install base?

Kaz said that around a year ago yet still no drop. I wonder why.

He said it at the start of the year I think. The price cut will be strategically used. My guess will be price cut this holiday (against MS AAA game enslaught) to pick up momentum and carry it throughinto next year with a stream of exclusives being released throughout 2016.

They don't want to outright kill MS and have then jump start a new gen.

Give them a little leway and they will struggle all gen long.

Agree actually. For Sony's bottom line a longer generation (7-8 years) allowing them to hold various price points is better financially than cutting for market share only to reset in a few years.

Yep, also nintendo can do do whatever but the last thing then need to get into is a short gen that is a price war with MS.  MS them selves are not looking to start that only lowering X1 price sub 50 of the PS4 price knowing damn well thay need more to truely challange while accepting the fact that forcing sony into cutting PS4 price is a death wish for the X1.

Selling good enough as is, any cut is not worth it.  Meaning the little the base would increase would not cover the costs of the price cut.  PS4 current sales sre to good.

I guess they're in a position where a price drop would be super effective (sorry for the Pokémon pun) because the price has been constant for almost 2 years. With MS a price drop just wouldn't be as significant as it's dropped and looped so many times.

Sony is doing just fine in the United States. They already have been aggressive; EA and Activision's two biggest games of the year a testament to this in terms of selling power. Sony will most likely announce a pricecut in the Paris Game Week. September is one of Sony's strongest months historically; Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain going to be a main factor. That, coupled with a possible pricecut, be it $50 or $100 off, will be more than enough for the PS4 to succeed in the United States.

If anything, and no disrespect to the OP, Sony's lead worldwide means a lot more to Sony than winning one region. Even if the biggest region is won, it will not matter much if the other regions are not as profitable.

They're focusing on the acquiring more exclusives and marketing deals. They are winning the US without being aggressive.

Sony doesn't really need to be. They're still winning, so no point it cutting prices. And they still have games, even if they are not all AAA or exclusive games.

I really don't see how they are not being aggressive. Getting the COD contract for the rest of the generation is HUGE! They are using Microsofts own strategies against them, and nailing it.  The cheapest console doesn't win the war.  The console with the best percieved value wins.

I still expect a holiday sale.

Some might see no price drop in the US as being not aggressive overall. I agree with you though. They're being aggressive in other ways that promote sales WW.
