That just furthers prove my point. BC is a feature that most people just dont care about, except forum goers.  Im not saying its not cool, but its not that serious to the overall scheme of thing. I mean if your mind is made up its not going to matter, for me it doesnt matter that Wii U and X1 have BC because i didnt really care for there predcessor's library so i wouldnt buy those games anyway. If you are a fan then that is just icing on the cake for you.

Can't argue with the bolded and I am indeed a fan.  I admit that I'M a forum dweller!  It has me excited.  I guess, as long as it makes me happy, that's all that matters.  Sometimes, I think we spend too much time trying to convince others what's cool and what sucks.

The highlights of E3 for me were BC (simply didn't expect it), the VR Headset for PS4, the Gears games, Uncharted 4, Tomb Raider, Hitman, Horizon, and the Scarecrow missions for Arkham Knight.  Somebody else will likely have an entirely different take on things and that's okay.  I'll just focus on my own enjoyment!

We really do spend too much time trying to convince people which is stupid, becasue either they are already fans and mind is made up or they just not fan enough to care.

I think that MS should have built the feature into xbox one to begin with instead of trying to add BC to the xbox one as a afterthought this late into the console cycle. Maybe they should of added that feature instead of kinect. It would of been a more complete BC with a lot more of the 360's library instead of a very limited BC with very few games. If it should of been impossible to do it for the xbox one as it is now, how difficult is it for them to set up a game for BC?  Full BC would be a different story.

The vast majority of xbox one owners have played or still have a 360. How many people still want to play 360 games?

Most likely, you're gonna just plug in one of your 360's to play a 360 game instead of using your xbox one to play it. I recommend keeping one 360 and the games for it.

It honestly adds very little value to the console with how it is. MS would be better off developing more exclusives for the xbox one instead of dicking around with limited BC.

This is just my opinion and I understand that others will probably see it differently but that's fine.

The ship has sailed though and I hope that you guys at least get something out of it.

How many people will? Well, if you have XBLG you get 2 new games every month, for example. Why do I not want to play these games? Especially if it is so convenient to play them on one console and I couldn't care less about what you recommend because generally I think people don't need recommendations on what they prefer and what is convenient to them. It adds a lot of value to me and given how big the thread on GAF is, there are more than just me who think that way.

I was just giving my opinion on what I thought on it which I can give at my own whim. To be fair, I didn't recommend diddly squat to you. I don't care about going-ons at GAF.

If MS really wanted to add BC to the xbox one, they should of done it in the first place instead of giving you guys the most limited form of it. If you like to play the same old games from last gen over and over, have at it. To each their own, walsufnir.

Depends what game changing if referring to. X1 will definitely sell more consoles now because its easier to sell a product to comsumers knowing you can play there old games on it. Once its up added majority of its 360 market games, that means the X1 has 2 generations of games playable with no extra cost. For Hardcore gamers it doesn't do much since they will buy games twice or the new systems straight away but for the casual gamer or the new gamer its an easy sell.

"Which console would you like, both have amazing games coming out, however one can play all your old games with the extra features of the new system, or you can buy the other one which you have to pay an online service fee and Stream your old games" There's a clear winner there.

Games with gold makes backwards compatibility different than your other examples. MS keeps giving out nice titles and it'd be nice to play them without dusting off the old 360.

This a great point here. Every time MS gives out a Games with Gold title it may be compatible with X1.

Has anyone claimed that it would be a game changer? Where? It was an amazing treat from MS to their fans, which is why it is a big deal. And 100 games already this fall, that is a big jump for the X1 game library, however you look at it.

I am more of a fan of "better late than never" but of course opinions are different

Be assured that if Sony had announced this and not MS, exactly this thread wouldn't even exist.

You guys need to stop with this strawman argument.  If Sony had announced this, MS fans wouldn't still be raving about it like it was a HUGE announcement.  I mean if the prospect of being able to run 10% of 360s library is this awesome, then the PS3's 90% must have blown your mind.

And for those who don'tget it, or are willingly not getting it, this has nothing to do with downplaying B/C. It'll be a great feature when/if they can get it working for most games.  This is just a reality check for those who thought this was some huge announcement and may change the XBO's situation.   Do we really need to bust out the chalkboard, again.

Hmm? Yes, because all MS fans are equal, right? And how do you know about the 10% and what about that 90%? And chalkboard? What? This sounds so insecure from your side...

I don't even know why you felt the need to make a thread. If there were dozens of hype threads for BC I would understand but in this case? In my opinion you are exaggerating way too much and this is also enriched with your competitive way of thinking, which screams console wars, competitional thinking, chalkboards... But yeah, let's destroy the hope for every MS fan out there. May they learn for now and ever, they messed with the wrong company. Xbox One is doomed, Sony will win. We should make a daily thread about it and use it in every thread imaginable.

*smh* "reality check"

So, willfully not getting it, then?

Were you not around a whole 2 days ago? As soon as it was announced, people were saying "MS won E3", "this is the biggest announcement that can happen", "nothing can top this", etc.

Apparently, BC is quite a big deal around here. But in reality, it's not. Hence the "reality check". Otherwise, as he mentioned, original PS3s ability to play 90% of the PS2s library should have been a "big deal" at the time, but no one cared. WiiU BC should have been a big deal, but no one cared. So, logically speaking, being able to play only 10% of the 360s library should definitely not be a big deal. But people are making it out to be.

Like the OP said, it's great that extra features are being added. Nobody is downplaying that. But this isn't "huge". There's no "competitional thinking" here. It's just bringing things back down to earth. You know what would be huge? GTAVI exclusivity on some platform. A Half-Life 3 announcement. Spyro coming back, developed by Insomniac, and being Xbox exclusive. But playing old games? How is somebody "insecure" by saying that this isn't some groundbreaking thing that "won E3", especially in the wake of FFVII remake and Shenmue 3, amongst other things.

Whoa, talk about competitive thinking and overexaggeration.  Kinda hypocritical to accuse me of that in this very post.

Its not gonna help the X1 outsel the PS4, but its a nice feature to have for the people that owned a 360 like me.

After we went through one generation of no B/C, it's a surprise but not a game changer. The moment I heard that physical media still requires digital download and then the disc to remain in tray for periodic verification I was least impressed. it's clearly ignoring ones without network access or an active internet connection who would have physical version of 360 games.
