It is a nice feature to have, but yeah it's not a huge deal. Especially considering that Sony announced the Holy Trinity of Great White Buffalos that we thought would never happen, it's amazing how people act like BC made Microsoft "win." I mean seriously, we have FF7, The Last Guardian, and SHENMUE 3 coming. I couldn't have asked for those to be real in my wildest fantasies. I started crying and asked people if I'm dreaming because Shenmue 3 was never supposed to be made and I've dreamt of it before but this time it was real. It is the single greatest piece of news in the history of video games.

Yet fanboys wanna say Microsoft won because of backwards compatibility. That's amazing to me.

Isn't it a more limited BC than on any other console?

Better than nothing, I guess.  The 360 to Xbox (2001) BC was pretty limited but still had a robust list of games.  Since I didn't have an original Xbox, I was able to go back and buy a lot of games that I wanted but missed.  I own a metric fuckton of 360 games so hopefully, the XB1 list grows pretty rapidly.  Haven't had a chance to try it for myself since Xbox Live was down for me, yesterday.

Of course, the PS2, PS3, Wii/Wii U method would be much preferred (especially since the Playstation BC enhanced the games, graphically!) but considering it's a feature that was supposed to be impossible, I'm happy to have it in any form.  I have two working 360s.  One is in my living room and one is in my game room--with the Wii U, PS3, PS4, and XB1.  I would LOVE to be able to move the 360 to one of my bedrooms just so I could use Netflix, WWE Network, Hulu, etc.

I think that MS should have built the feature into xbox one to begin with instead of trying to add BC to the xbox one as a afterthought this late into the console cycle. Maybe they should of added that feature instead of kinect. It would of been a more complete BC with a lot more of the 360's library instead of a very limited BC with very few games. If it should of been impossible to do it for the xbox one as it is now, how difficult is it for them to set up a game for BC?  Full BC would be a different story.

The vast majority of xbox one owners have played or still have a 360. How many people still want to play 360 games?

Most likely, you're gonna just plug in one of your 360's to play a 360 game instead of using your xbox one to play it. I recommend keeping one 360 and the games for it.

It honestly adds very little value to the console with how it is. MS would be better off developing more exclusives for the xbox one instead of dicking around with limited BC.

This is just my opinion and I understand that others will probably see it differently but that's fine.

The ship has sailed though and I hope that you guys at least get something out of it.

its a good feature, but like alot of features, most people dont care. If they did WII U would be doing a hellof a lot better. And PS4/X1 not as much

But people stopped caring about the Wii!  The Xbox 360 was the console to own in the United States (which doesn't equal the world.  I know.).  The Wii was the greatest trick the devil ever pulled.

There are a lot of differences between the Wii U and the Xbox One that made the "One" a more viable option.  More powerful and third party support. Adding BC is just a little something to sweeten the pot.  It's not the key selling point of a console and I'm sure it never was....aside from the DS consoles for a few.  New game experiences have always filled that role.

Well, all of the Big 3 have done their E3 conference (Direct for Nintendo), and it seems the majority consesus is that Sony "won."  However, there is a minority that feel MS won.  The main reason, in their words?  The ability to play 360 games.  As of now, it only supports about 15 games, but MS promises to roll out updates to support more games.  Even if it supported 90% of games, I think it's time for a reality check, this is nothing but a really nice additional feature.  Hardly the "game changer" some were trying to proclaim it to be.  And hardly a reason for them to be counted as E3's winner.

Now, if this feature had been available from the start, it could have swayed a few people, but it isn't going to do much this late into the gen.  Of course, if we look at the PS3 and Wii U, it's very clear that B/C changes little about how a gen will play out, even if available at launch.  The PS3 followed the highest selling console of all time, the PS2, and came with B/C, yet it struggled in the beginning.  In fact, it wasn't till after they took out B/C and were able to drop the price that the PS3 sales really started improving.  Seems B/C didn't really matter to those owners.  And an even more recent example is the Wii U, which also followed another incredibly popular console, the Wii.  And while the PS4 and XBO launched with no B/C, they quickly passed the Wii U's LTD sales in a matter of months.

The real reason there needs to be a reality check is that there are still people today, after there has been time to reflect, that act like the B/C was a true megaton announcement that may change the XBO's situation.  I could see that being the case if B/C was invented just for the XBO and had never done before.  But, that is not the case.  Instead, B/C will continue to be almost a non-factor.  In the end, it truly is just a nice feature to take advantage of every now and then to play some classics.  And/or to write down to support your side in a console list war.

XBO won for me because thier exclusives appeal to me more than Sony's.  Don't care for FF7 remake or Shenmue 3 and Horizon & Uncharted looks great but Tomb Raider I feel is the better Indiana-Jones-Esque game while Horizon has the wierd Robot thing needing explanation.

Since I didn't own a 360 the b/c doesn't even matter. And I wouldn't buy a new console just to play some of the old ones, heck, I never played a Wii game on my U yet and I don't intend to, ever.

Now what kind of minority am I in? I'm always in a minority.

It's amazing people have different opinions? Than you will be amazed a lot of times in your future life, I can assure you. People have preferences and opinions, that's why we have forums and talk to each other. To you 3 games are amazing, to others it's not. But this doesn't necessarily have to do anything with being a fanboy and being amazed by different opinions makes you seem very young and unexperienced in life. This is no offense, just an observation.

How many people will? Well, if you have XBLG you get 2 new games every month, for example. Why do I not want to play these games? Especially if it is so convenient to play them on one console and I couldn't care less about what you recommend because generally I think people don't need recommendations on what they prefer and what is convenient to them. It adds a lot of value to me and given how big the thread on GAF is, there are more than just me who think that way.

That just furthers prove my point. BC is a feature that most people just dont care about, except forum goers.  Im not saying its not cool, but its not that serious to the overall scheme of thing. I mean if your mind is made up its not going to matter, for me it doesnt matter that Wii U and X1 have BC because i didnt really care for there predcessor's library so i wouldnt buy those games anyway. If you are a fan then that is just icing on the cake for you.

Can't argue with the bolded and I am indeed a fan.  I admit that I'M a forum dweller!  It has me excited.  I guess, as long as it makes me happy, that's all that matters.  Sometimes, I think we spend too much time trying to convince others what's cool and what sucks.

The highlights of E3 for me were BC (simply didn't expect it), the VR Headset for PS4, the Gears games, Uncharted 4, Tomb Raider, Hitman, Horizon, and the Scarecrow missions for Arkham Knight.  Somebody else will likely have an entirely different take on things and that's okay.  I'll just focus on my own enjoyment!

You say all that, but you're clearly an Xbox guy, and here's the difference between you and me. If it was flipped and these games were on Xbone instead, I'd be first in line buying one. I don't make excuses for "my" console and act like I'm into games that I'm not just to hold up some kind of imagined allegiance. When I said it's amazing, it's because we're talking about what is literally the biggest announcements in the history of video games vs. emulated backwards compatability. That's not opinion. My opinion is that Gears of War is a complete trash franchise, and we can argue differently about that. When it comes to Shenmue 3, though, even if you're someone who never played the originals, you have to admit what a monumental thing it is.

Well, you can argue how monumental Gears is, too, and how people think how the whole franchise Shenmue is complete trash. There is close to nothing anyone has to ever admit in gaming and Shenmue gets a lot of hype in forums which often leads to an image of a game it can't live up to. And yes, it is opinion
