When will the Xbone overtake the PS4 in the U.S.?

Late 2014 32 2.87%

1st half of 2015 51 4.57%

2nd half of 2015 92 8.25%

1st half of 2016 22 1.97%

2nd half of 2016 12 1.08%

2017 6 0.54%

2018 and beyond 10 0.90%

Never 794 71.21%

See results 95 8.52%

Total:1,114

As of the W.E 29th November the PS4 has sold 5,950,954 and the Xbone has sold 5,146,519, meaning according to VGC the gap currently stands at 804,435 units. So when if ever do you think it'll pass the PS4 in total US sales?

I reckon the 2nd half of 2015. At the end of December the gap should be around 650k-700k. For the first half of 2015 assuming the price-cut becomes permanent I reckon the gap will close by a few hundred thousand units despite the PS4 having certain periods of outselling the Xbone cos of its strong line-up. Then in Q3 & Q4 I think itll overtake it due to the Xbones strong line up (Halo 5, tomb raider, quantum break) and continued price advantage.

Sometime in Marsh/April I say.

If they keep this momentum, then early next year, if sales fall back in line with PS4 or back below PS4 then it could take a bit longer or best case, never.

Thanks jlmurph!

I believe March 2015.

Next holiday season probably depends on how much ground the PS4 claws back over the first 8 months of 2015.

To those saying March I'd be very surprised if the Xbox One sells more in that month with both The Order and Bloodborne launching around that time.

Won't really be able to provide an informed estimate until we're past the holiday season, when the weekly sales drop back down to their normal non-holiday baselines. If the past year is anything to go by, the XB1 will never catch up to the PS4. You can't overtake your rival, by taking November NPD, and dropping the rest of the 11 months, overwhelmingly.

Geh! I was selecting 2nd half 2015 but tic 1st half 2016 instead. x_x

Never!
