Forums - Gaming - Will MS's pricecut give them a November or December win in the US?

Playstation or Xbox during the hoildays?

Playstation both months 281 66.75%

Playstation in November, Xbox in December 14 3.33%

Xbox in November, Playstation in December 55 13.06%

Xbox both months 58 13.78%

They'll be exactly even both months 13 3.09%

Total:421

If Sony doesn't have a reactionary price drop similar to this then the Xbone will 100% win November at least. If Sony do 349 far cry 4/ gta deals tho then I think sony will take both months, but it will be very close

MS will probably win both months if sony doesnt match the price

I'm going to keep saying this, price isn't the issue the Xbox One has had. $350 for something people don't want is still a worse deal than $400 for something people do want.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I am of the belief that even with this price drop the PS4 will win November and December. So I voted accordingly.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Except people do want XB1, if you look outside Destiny month, the ratios were not staggeringly far apart.

For a lot of people on the fence, a $50 price advantage and free game is enough to sway them.

While I think Sony will have some great deals. They do not HAVE to react to this at all and still stand a very good chance of winning Nov with regular Holiday bundles/deals. MS has been throwing promotions liek this around all year and it has not caused them to win a single month. So to be honest IMO Sony does not need to and shouldn't reac to this at all.

I just think NOV/DEC will be a lot closer with these deals but I still see Sony winning both months.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

xbox will win november
playstation maybe december

but both xbox or both sony, is possible, too
if sony is going only with the 399 standard and 449 destiny sku into the whole holiday season, they will probably lose both month

if they go with a 349 standard sku and 399 gtaV+tlofu rmk bundle, they can win even november.
but sony is doing retail copies in theire bundles and special boxes. so they need more time to prepare to lauch and ship them. i doubt they can manage that until the 18. november (gtaV bundle already announced for europe is an indicator)

only thing they can do is retailer promotions, or prepare for black friday and december.

so i go with 80% chance xb1 will win november
35% chance xb1 will win both

20% chance sony will win both month
65% chance sony will win december

edit: btw i said back in april, that ms probably will win november and sony december. thats not unusual and would be possible without this pricecut. its save play from ms

Sony wins for sure.
MS tried to undercut Sony in September, and PS4 almost doubled XOne's sales.

MS offered a $399 console bundled with a game, plus a free hit AAA game of choice (mostly Destiny and some Madden) and still got easily beaten by PS4 which required customers to pay extra $50 for Destiny.

So, the perception is that PS4 is so superior that it is a good deal to pay $170 more for it --- an almost 3 game difference.

There is no chance a mere $50 pricecut will entice customers to buy an inferior product. This move will just alleviate what would have been a total debacle and a 2:1 or even bigger sales ratio in favor of PS4.
Unless XOne starts selling for $229, they will not catch up.

Especially since it is certain that both CoD and AC:U will sell better on PS4, and that people don't care if they get a game for free on a console they don't want.
Add to that PS4's GTA bundle (which will probably be the best selling game this month), Far Cry bundle (a probable GOTY and a great PS4 system seller) and LBP bringing the console to younger generation (a market segment MS doesn't even attempt to attract), PS4 will outsell XOne by at least 60% in November, and will sell more than double in December...

No, I still expect PS4 to win but I could be wrong. $50 price cut and Master Chief Collection is gonna move a lot of units during the holidays.

but the xb1 is the better product. most consumer just dont know, and are tricked into sonys marketing. and as we know. the best (and cheapest, also) marketing is to get ur consumers to work for you. and the ps4 audience is doing a hell of a good job promoting the ps4
