Forums - Gaming - Will MS's pricecut give them a November or December win in the US?

Playstation or Xbox during the hoildays?

Playstation both months 281 66.75%

Playstation in November, Xbox in December 14 3.33%

Xbox in November, Playstation in December 55 13.06%

Xbox both months 58 13.78%

They'll be exactly even both months 13 3.09%

Total:421

And PS4 will outsell Xbox One with even bigger ratio. I am not trolling. PS4 has the momentum and it will sell a lot.

I can already see Pachter's prediction...

I'll laugh my ass off if PS4 still wins

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

On Paper MS should win November, 50$ pricecut / Sunset overdrive / HCC / advertise for CoD & Assassins Creed.

On the other hand we have Sony who has yet to annouce anything, also the PS4 is not to be estimated. PS4 word of mouth has seem to have gotten stronger lately.

It is anyone's game.

But if MS can not win November, then they will not win December.

Hmm.  I can make the case for either.  It seems like they have the pricing to win.  Lets play this one by ear.  After the first few weeks we will have a better indication.

But alas, if they don't win November, there really is nothing else they can do (if they want to close the gap by anything this year).  Its a weird situation.

Ultimate test of PS4's superiority in the US will be these two months. If Sony can win despite everything Microsoft is doing then I cannot see the trend reversing for the rest of the generation.

My guess is Sony manages to squeak out two wins, but by far less than would have been without all these promotions.

Considering we haven't heard a word on what Sony's doing for it's holiday deals, I think it's a tad premature to be making any estimates atm. Then again, I never partake in these guessing games, so, take my input with a grain of salt :D

This is true but I hope Sony announce something soon for the US.  I could see LBP3 with an extra controller bundle for $450 (because of local co-op being such a selling point for those games).  I could also see an Infamous and/or Killzone bundle for $400

What would be funny is if Sony undercuts Microsoft's holiday pricing.  $325 for any bundle, US, Europe, Asia and RoW included.

I honestly think they would ONLY pricecut in America only becuase the rest of the world is already a BLOODBATH.  Seriously it's like 5:1 ratio outside UK and US so they probably don't feel much pressure to pricecut until they can make a good profit with it.  In the UK the Xbox already undercut them and they still have the sales advantage.

Well, it's common knowledge that they make most of their profit on peripherals, DLC and software.  So, undercutting for the holiday period could be beneficial in the long run.  Depends on how much they've been able to reduce the BoM on the PS4 though.
