Forums - Gaming - Will MS's pricecut give them a November or December win in the US?

Playstation or Xbox during the hoildays?

Playstation both months 281 66.75%

Playstation in November, Xbox in December 14 3.33%

Xbox in November, Playstation in December 55 13.06%

Xbox both months 58 13.78%

They'll be exactly even both months 13 3.09%

Total:421

It's gotten much tougher, but PS4 will still win both months. November will be close to a tie though.

MS tried to undercut Sony in September, and PS4 almost doubled XOne's sales.

MS offered a $399 console bundled with a game, plus a free hit AAA game of choice (mostly Destiny and some Madden) and still got easily beaten by PS4 which required customers to pay extra $50 for Destiny.

So, the perception is that PS4 is so superior that it is a good deal to pay $170 more for it --- an almost 3 game difference.

There is no chance a mere $50 pricecut will entice customers to buy an inferior product. This move will just alleviate what would have been a total debacle and a 2:1 or even bigger sales ratio in favor of PS4.
Unless XOne starts selling for $229, they will not catch up.

Especially since it is certain that both CoD and AC:U will sell better on PS4, and that people don't care if they get a game for free on a console they don't want.
Add to that PS4's GTA bundle (which will probably be the best selling game this month), Far Cry bundle (a probable GOTY and a great PS4 system seller) and LBP bringing the console to younger generation (a market segment MS doesn't even attempt to attract), PS4 will outsell XOne by at least 60% in November, and will sell more than double in December...

but the xb1 is the better product. most consumer just dont know, and are tricked into sonys marketing. and as we know. the best (and cheapest, also) marketing is to get ur consumers to work for you. and the ps4 audience is doing a hell of a good job promoting the ps4

lol stick to facts and don't try to push your opinion on us! The market disagrees with you, hard.

Depends on how Sony responds. But it will certainly help MS.

what? i already said that. but that doenst mean the market is right

the market buys what it believes to need and want. but that has not to be automatically the best available

as i said. sony did everything right. and its impossible to fuck up for them in the mid term now.

ms can only try to come close to sony and wait for possible long term industry changes

sony won early and mid cycle of the gen8 lifespan

I think it's really up to Sony. SCEA has announced nothing for November and December, thus far. Meanwhile, in Europe, there will be LBP3, Far Cry 4, and GTA V bundles. The Japanese branch has also announced a few bundles and limited edition PS4s. If SCEA announces those bundles in the US, too, the PS4 will win both months. The X1 will still put up a good fight in November, at least.

All we know for sure is that Sony wins October :)

Yeah, nice way to write a few sentences of pure nonsense.

So, Sony consumers get somehow tricked into buying a worse product (in your extremely erroneous biased opinion), yet still find it necessary to recommend to their friends to make the same mistake.

Sadly for you, it is objectively true that PS4 is a far superior product, and that the majority of customers, unaffected by preexisting bias, wisely choose a better value for their entertainment. And since there is absolutely ni chance for XOne's quality ever to approach PS4, it will always remain a second string player catering to an increasingly niche audience...

Again, PS4 easily wins November, December, 2014, 2015, 8th generation, US, Europe and RoW... All MS can do is offer discounts, pricecuts and freebies year round to minimize the defeat...

I'm going to keep saying this, price isn't the issue the Xbox One has had. $350 for something people don't want is still a worse deal than $400 for something people do want.

Except people do want XB1, if you look outside Destiny month, the ratios were not staggeringly far apart.

For a lot of people on the fence, a $50 price advantage and free game is enough to sway them.

With all due respect, the gap in September was almost 2:1.  March ratio was MUCH closer.  August ratio was MUCH closer.   September was one of the biggest gaps.   You comment perplexes me.  Isn't it more accurate to say that a free game with the console like in the case of Madden 15 will lead to much closer ratios as evidenced by August?

The Madden bundle was limited quantities and not really marketed.

This $50 cut applies to all XB1 models for the holiday and will likely be marketed out the wazoo. Plus MS has some exclusives like Sunset Overdrive and Master Chief Collection that were going to push systems anyway.

u said xb1 is an inferior product.

the ps4 is not a bad product. just a worse than the xb1 (yes in my personal biased opinion)

just like the ps4 is a better on in ur personal biased opinion.

and its not objectively ture, that the ps4 is far  superior. its only objectively tue in ONE part. and thats the hardware computin power.

i can name u severel, where the ps4 is the far inferior product objectively ;)

region free games, software updates, cooling system and noise, online service

but that all doenst matter. because the purchase decision is based one everyones own biased opinion. and that it totally fine :)
