Forums - Sales - The PS4 is a MAJOR flop in Japan - we need to talk about it

VGChartz logic says not to trust those with Kim Possible Avatars...

Unfortunately it seems like no console can really break the handheld love of the Japan market right now. We'll see how that affects development as so many of the series I love come from a place that is moving in a totally different direction for handhelds than I myself would like to.  Thankfully most of the series I love are pretty niche and only need a hundred thousand sales or so which you can certainly get on a userbase of less than a million.

...

The PS4 isn't selling well in Japan as the console market is shrinking there. Any sales there will be a nice boost but it is clear that PS4's success will be dependent on EU & NA. Wii U did better because it had better software, Mario beats Knack and Killzone big shock there.

If only you had stopped there I could have taken your thread seriously, but then you started talking nonsense about how this and that proves Sony doesn't care about it's consumers. Please say you don't think Nintendo or Microsoft cares about it's consumers. None of them do. Everything they do, even giving away free stuff to a disgruntled customer over social media or PS Plus or whatever, is designed to help their brand and get more money.

Not sold out, its simply an unattractive option. Why would you buy a PS4, when you can get a cheaper Wii U that has better games?

Considering it's complete lack of a single Japanese exclusive, it's doing pretty well P:

I expect we will see it settle at around 8k - 15k for the next few months until bigger titles release.

Will be a few more weeks before we can tell if its just Supply problems or not, Famitsu said it was last week, they didnt say either way this week, but a 30k weekly shipment would seem normal, when you see that america only gets about 40-50k weekly shipments.

Japan, homeland of hanhelds and smartphones

If the 3DS tops 35k each week (and almost 2x less than last year, YTD), it's pretty logical that PS4 won't beat this in the long term !

MGSV:GZ launching next week...

visual evidence.  worst next gen launch (so far).  trending just below vita.

*All data is VGCz expect for third week ps4 data which is media crate.

And a year lead, in holiday season to boot.
