Wait til the Japanese games come out. PS4 will be a slow burner in Japan, but the market is Sony's home territory, they will get sales there eventually.

I live in Japan. A lot of Japanese gamers are saying that WiiU is dead. Mainly because WiiU is already struggling to attract third-party support. They think WiiU would be a short lived console. They are not much worrying about PS4 because it would get third-party support. There are still a lot of new Japanese games coming out for the PS3. I think the transition to PS4 will not happen for at least another 2 years in Japan. They need to wait til the majority of major Japanese game companies move over to next gen.
| RolStoppable said: Hey guys, I thought we need to talk about this: According to Famitsu, the PS4 sold 30,766 units in its third week in Japan. That's approximately 90k units below what the Wii U did during its third week. When we look at launch aligned LTD numbers, the PS4 has already fallen 150k units behind the Wii U. Let's be honest here, this is a MAJOR flop. Not even the typical system-selling power of Knack can turn this console into a success. Before the PS4 launch many people have said that Sony doesn't really care about consumers. Putting online multiplayer behind a paywall, among other things, indicate that this is the truth. So can we still say that Sony doesn't care about gamers? Let's take a look: 3DS's third week: 96.463 For further comparison, the Wii U sold 122,356 units in its third week. For Sony that's pretty much the equivalent of being proven to be dumber than an idiot. Now what? |
And then I knew...this was a Rol thread.

That and 3DS, think 3DS hit 15mil last month. Fell short of their 18mil prediction but above their readjusted 13.5mil which is not so bad I guess. I'm sure the PS4 will be a hit everywhere else though, it's already doing so well.

| kowenicki said: I approve of this thread. It is a reasonable view of the situation following similar threads of scrutiny in recent times. The Japanese market doesn't like home consoles any more. As will be revealed over the coming 12 months. I reckon the combined home console sales will be about half of the Playstation 2 generation. |
kowen, in your opinion, what is it that exactly caused this shift?....I mean, up until the PS2, it seemed like Japanese gamers had no problems gaming on home consoles...this violent shift to handhelds coincided with the start of the last generation...was the transition to HD plus the PS3´s complicated architecture some of the main culprits?
It´s not like millions of people just suddenly woke up and said "you know what, I´m done with gaming on my TV, I´m now doing my gaming on these small screens"

I meant smash it by being far worse... Hence the last line of my post.. I meant see that dotted green line, well it will be far below it. |
oh shit, my bad. rereading it i'm not sure why i thought you meant the opposite. i think "smash" just has some pretext of "good" in my head.

That's because Japan only buys Japanese and shun all things from America.
