PS3 has had a difficult start in Japan because it lacked of games for Japanese audience, this is the same for the PS4. We'll have to wait a few months or maybe 2 years for sales are better.

I find it hard to believe that despite the staggered launches, Sony still doesn't have enough stock to support one of the most important markets for video games. If it is true that Sony is selling out the PS4 in Japan (which doesn't seem true judging by anecdotal evidence) than Sony just destroyed effectively their own launch momentum by criminally undershipping their console.

Either way, this isn't a good sign for Home Consoles in Japan

A exceed of 20% not that unimprecive, but not that fenomenal.

PS4 is already in every single market in the world, it dosen´t have much room to price cut that yearly.

As I said, PS4 needs games.

But the Japanese market is important because it already has showed us that a lot of J-devs feel more secure with developping for handhelds/smartphones... Low sales for PS4 in Japan can lead to more devs jumping ship to handhelds/smartphones or making games for the Western market that is hated by some J-game lovers...

Just gonna repeat what I said in another thread:

"Japanese publishers are way, way behind western publishers when it comes to supporting new consoles. I think we're going to see them milk the PS3 for awhile, which will hurt the PS4. It's going to change gradually, though, and we'll see the PS4's situation improve as it builds exclusives."

You only have to look at the COMG charts to understand how it's gonna go. It wasn't so long ago that PSP games were all over the place but now it's solidly switched to Vita. It just took awhile. The PS3 still has a ton of upcoming releases, including cross-gen titles. The PS4 will be in a MUCH better place than the Vita in terms of eventual support, without doubt, but it's still going to be a struggle against the PS3.

Hats off to Nintendo, though, relative to their ability to kill the previous generation.

doubtful.  parity would, to be honest, a massive win for xbox.

still, between this and ps4 taking 4 full days to sell out i'm getting pretty worried about ps4.   things as they are, if sony doesn't find success the console business is completely dead.  i don't want to have to retun to PC gaming.

Nah I will let you enjoying a thead about a week in Japan. You will see me on Worldwide sales like...usually.
