It´s not like millions of people just suddenly woke up and said "you know what, I´m done with gaming on my TV, I´m now doing my gaming on these small screens"

This was a long time ago (2 years ago if I remember correctly), but I remember reading an article saying that most middle class families in Japan only have 1 TV in their houses. Not sure if that might have to something with it.

Probably not because I imagine this was the same during the PS2 era.
