I live in Japan. A lot of Japanese gamers are saying that WiiU is dead. Mainly because WiiU is already struggling to attract third-party support. They think WiiU would be a short lived console. They are not much worrying about PS4 because it would get third-party support. There are still a lot of new Japanese games coming out for the PS3. I think the transition to PS4 will not happen for at least another 2 years in Japan. They need to wait til the majority of major Japanese game companies move over to next gen.

Aren't you guys only playing on Smartphones? I mean.. you guys can stream and play DQX on a smartphone nowadays.. no need for anything else..

It's doomed people confirmed by the Op best we return our ps4's and pick up wii u or else no games for us because Sony is going bust.

Sales aren't that concerning. The Japanese tend to respond harder to software releases, and there's a huge lack of Japanese software at the moment. They're also behind the curve when it comes to transitioning to next-gen.

It should be plain sailing for the PS4 when Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III release...unless they go iOS exclusive.

Clearly, everyone but the Japanese understand how the Japanese console market operates.

I think this reaction is somewhat of a rubber banding to all the "PS4 will save home consoles in Japan" hype that came before its release. Like someone said before, I'm sure PS4 will even out to respectable numbers in a few years but the immediate reaction is not good.

The market... is... GLOBAL.........

But the Japanese market is important because it already has showed us that a lot of J-devs feel more secure with developping for handhelds/smartphones... Low sales for PS4 in Japan can lead to more devs jumping ship to handhelds/smartphones or making games for the Western market that is hated by some J-game lovers...

Ummmm. Not really.

I dont think the original poster understands supply shortages. Can't have high sales if there's no consoles to buy on the shelves.

I can't say anything about unattractive, but it's certainly not sold out everywhere.

I've been looking around for a new laptop recently, and all 4 electronics stores I went to had a few PS4s in stock. (I know it's only "anecdotal evidence", but still...)

I still hope it'll sell decently. Sony needs to survive and thrive.
