Forums - Sales - Is Anyone Else Questioning MS's 2M Sold Through?

Its shipped. That is why they stated there assumption that they were sold out. So they claim shipped = sold

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

It wasn't every "sold through to consumer" crap.

It was sold to retailer. MS wouldn't know how many sold to consumers until NPD and others state so and NPDs estimates just released tonight.

By Dec 1, MS shipped just over 2m. Those will sell through before 2014 hits but, they are already starting to have stock availability in retail.

I went to five websites today.

Gamestop, Best Buy, Walmart, Costco and Amazon.

Three of them had bundles you could buy now and get Xbones this coming week. They were forced bundles, which suggest limited supply, but still supply.

PS4 had nothing at any retailer. They are truly sold out and are selling as they come in immediately.

Xbone simply does not have the long-standing demand PS4 does. Its $100 too much.

PS4 won't start to show retail availability until January. Xbone will be relatively easily found at retail next week.

Great post :)

900k in JUST the US after 9 days, whats so hard to believe about 2m worldwide in 18 days?

/thread

Except its not selling as well in EU, as it is in NA.  And the majority of that 900K is from the first week.  Subsequent weeks will drop because of supply and lowered launch demand, which happens to ALL consoles.

It doesn't need to. If the sales in Europe and NA were the same, we would talk about 3 million.

900k in 9 days. Maybe another 400k in the next 9 days (>50% decrease in sales) means 1.3 million in the US alone.
So the other 12 countries need to sell 700k in 18 days for the 2M number to be correct.

And according to your own sources 150k were sold in UK in 2 days. A conservative guess would be 250k in 18 days is easily possible...

There is NOTHING that proves your point.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Sorry if it was already mentioned but the 2mil number seems perfectly reasonable. 909k was over 18 days. The XBone has been on sale for 9 more days since then. Sales we know for sure.

909k in USA in 9 days
150k in UK in 48 hours
65k in Australia in three days
Spain 23k  around 14 days.
So we have 1.147million

Then we have unaccounted for
4 days of Spain sales
9 days of USA sales
16 days of UK sales
15 days of Australia sales
18 days of Canada sales
18 days of Germany sales
18 days of France sales
18 days of Ireland sales
18 days of Mexico sales
18 days of New Zeland sales
18 days of Brazil sales
18 days of Austria sales

From nintendo's recent Europe hardware charts, out of all the xbone's Europe launch territories, Spain has the biggest gap between xbox 360 and PS3 so it is likely the smallest territory by far for the xbone. 850k seems pretty easy to come from sales of all those territories for all those days. Remember sony's console is extremely supply constraint. Sales in certain countries will be close to ps4 simply due to that. We already saw that in Australia where the xbone actually has the biggest launch of all time, despite the ps4 getting more preorders.

Besides if Microsoft was just making numbers up, surely they would have just made up a number slightly bigger than sony instead of slightly smaller. Not to mention that if we assume microsoft is making numbers up just because we don't like them we have to assume everyone is able to do so and then we are just picking and chosing which numbers we think are real just because we want them to be.

Jesus Christ~! Is this even a question? Xbox One sold to consumers more than 2 million units after 18 days in 13 markets. Just accept it. Why so many denial about Xbox One enjoyed a such great start?

Yes, PS4 numbers are more impressive, but X1 also had a successful launch in Xbox/Microsoft history. That is good enough.

Nail meet hammer!!!!!!!

Nothing unbelievable in this. Those consoles were very anticipated by the hardcore fans. I kinda think they have many more than 2M fans who waited to get one...

I think Sony and MS are taking different aproaches to supply, and i think MS aproach might actually be better, they are supplying NA with more units then Europe where i see Sony trying to Supply Everyone and failing to keep up with Demand, Since Launch i have never Seen a PS4 in the store but i have seen multiple times Xbox Ones, so either MS is supplying more to NA or its not selling as well as they are saying. Target had 4 Xb1 today in thier case, and last weekend i saw some in Best Buy. Too bad i dont want another Xb1 and want a Second PS4 for my Mancave tired of sharing the one PS4 with my Wife cant stand watching her Play Knack, while i just want to play Resogun, or BF4. LOL. Back on topic, if sony was able to produce enough for demand i think they could sell through 4 Million by years end, but i have a feeling it will be about 3 instead due to not being able to keep up.

Nope, that would mean it would have sold more than million in Europe and more in Europe than the U.S. With XOne's being in stock in almist all of Europe, no way.
