Well, I think most people accept they were fudging that number, since it was less than 24 hrs after launch when they reported it, and Sony waited 2 days to report theirs. Less than 24hrs is not enough to get any real info on how sales are going. And given that they sold 150K in 48hrs in the UK (their best market outside of the US), 66K in AU in 3 days, and it took over 2 weeks to hit 23K in Spain (so probably ~15K-18K in the first 48 hrs), I doubt they hit 500K in the first 24.
