Forums - Sales - Is Anyone Else Questioning MS's 2M Sold Through?

I work at a Cincinnati GameStop and I can tell you 9 out of the 10 calls we receive are asking if we have PS4's in stock, some days it's different but a mass majority of the time it's for PS4's. Our Store is still sold out of both, but I've noticed we have been getting more Xbox's in stock than PS4's, it could be balancing out because of that, but I'm not sure, Just thought I would through that into the fire.

It wasn't every "sold through to consumer" crap.

It was sold to retailer. MS wouldn't know how many sold to consumers until NPD and others state so and NPDs estimates just released tonight.

By Dec 1, MS shipped just over 2m. Those will sell through before 2014 hits but, they are already starting to have stock availability in retail.

I went to five websites today.

Gamestop, Best Buy, Walmart, Costco and Amazon.

Three of them had bundles you could buy now and get Xbones this coming week. They were forced bundles, which suggest limited supply, but still supply.

PS4 had nothing at any retailer. They are truly sold out and are selling as they come in immediately.

Xbone simply does not have the long-standing demand PS4 does. Its $100 too much.

PS4 won't start to show retail availability until January. Xbone will be relatively easily found at retail next week.

MS specifically said sold through to consumers, not shipped, which I think it actually is.  The EU numbers just don't point to it being able to sell as well there as in NA.

As for stock, Wal-Mart said they are getting a large shipment this weekend.  I'm guessing others will be getting them, as well.  But, you are right, they will sell out pretty quick.

I will tell you this Sony's 1 million sold claim was complete BS, there was no way they could have accurate analytics that fast. The best they could claim was shipped to retail but that made a point of saying sold to customers which was a bold face lie.

Good to see Microsoft taking it to Sony with same dirty marketing tactics.

Sony are already preparing for the worst and going to be combining ps3 and ps4 numbers together. Just like they did with psp and vita to try and hard its failure from the market.

Well, Sony at least waited two days to announce that, so I'm sure they were getting feedback from retailers and/or NPD.  If you want to talk about BS, you can look no further than MS's 1M+, as they announced that less than 24hrs from launch.

It will hurt at first. But in time the pain will fade

No.

Except its not selling as well in EU, as it is in NA.  And the majority of that 900K is from the first week.  Subsequent weeks will drop because of supply and lowered launch demand, which happens to ALL consoles.

The current numbers are more or less around 1.8-1.9 M, from December 7th, yeah? So it's not entirely out of the question that they did or got close enough to say they did. Either way it's PR take it with a grain of salt.

The X1 did a better job of resupplying for Black Friday but the NPD numbers have that already. Afterward Id say my Target both recieved nearly the same amount of units (hardly any for both). Id actually go back further andy question MS on their 1mil figure considering in two sales weeks MS sold 900k. 600K first week (550k first day) in US would mean MS needed to sell just as much in europe to reach 1mil
