Forums - Sony - Is Gran Turismo 5 in trouble?

Mine has just been dispatched!

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

It's definitely been on the end of some terrible business and marketing decisions.

Should still be fine though

GT5 is not big at all in America. I have yet to see a commercial. If any of you think it will be big here you are in for a rude awakening.

define "big"

By big I mean Halo big seeing as many people on this site were comparing the two.

they compare the two in WW sales, I don't think anyone is foolish enough to think that the two are similar in NA sales.

True... it wont be anywhere near Halo big in America thats true... but then not many games are, in fact only one other game is. So its a bit of an unfair comparison.

Though you could also say that Halo isn't that big outside the America.

I like how Torillian's and Kowenicki's answer are so different but answer to the same thing. =)

Pre order sales for a Gran Turismo game is no indication to what its final sales will be because the crowd that Gran Turismo attracts are not the crowd that pre order games.

Do I think GT5 will sell millions like Halo or COD? No not straight away but it will eventually.

no you couldnt.   Examining the HD machines in EMEAA Halo 3 is only beaten by MW2 on 360 & PS3 and GTAIV on PS3.

Don't be suprised if GT5 in Americas eventually outsells Halo: Reach in EMEAA though, not saying it will for sure but it could definitely happen.

Interestingly in the two national newspapers I have read this morning, the game that is getting the press, and very good reviews in both, is NFS....

GT5 doesnt even get a mention.  No ads either... why is ther zero advertising? no press? no tv?  I find this a very odd approach for Sony to take with its biggest franchise by far.

I find is pretty logical given what we know.

The release date was up in the air, advertising a date and missing it would have been retarded and a waste of cash.  It also would have pissed of and compfused the average consumer.

Theyt don't need pre release ads for it, it will sale millions regardles.

And they dont need to push it ealry hard, alot of publisher do that so they sale a lot before reviews kill hype.  GT will get great reviews there no need to push sales hard early due to feer of bad press and word of mouth ruining them later.

Also early GT ads will be directed at car guys, commercials on Speed tv ads in car mags online ads on car sites.  More casual oriented targeting will come later in dec during NBA or NHL games, stuff like that.
