Well sales raised 1300 % on amazon after the release date announcement. The game is huge here in Europe , and even bigger in Japan. So it will do fine. :)

no its not.

I wonder how he got to that conclusion

It's bigger in Japan actually. Remember the size of Japan guys. While EMEAA sells way more copies and it's huge their. In Japan GT is the biggest their than anywhere else. EMEAA is pretty darn big guys, and has so many people. Think he's talking from comparative markets, not directly in competition. If you don't know, EMEAA = Europe Mid East Africa Asia. Much bigger than Japan, and no one is silly to suggest it will sell better in Japan than EMEAA. GT4 sold 1 million in Japan, 6 million in all of EMEAA, that's a much bigger attach-rate to peoples of Japan. Is it's far bigger in Japan (GT) than anywhere else.

GT5P in America sales

First week: 145K

First 10 weeks: 400K

LTD: 1.2 million

Legs, no worries /thread

If it sells 5 million I already see it as an succes;..but wouldn't be surprised if it ends with more than 10 million copies sold...

Knowing GT's impressive sales history, I'm confused by the really low Americas sales less than 2 weeks before release. I've never tracked a GT game prior to release, and I do understand they have incredible legs, but nonetheless the current pre-order sales seem a little worrisome. Anyone have any thoughts? Has the GT series lost a lot of its fanbase in the Americas?

Preorders stalled because there was no release date. As soon as Sony announced one Amazon preorders increased 1300% and it has been outselling Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Donkey Kong Country Returns ever since. It's launching Black Friday week too, so that'll help. The American commercials start airing tomorrow.

In short, it'll do fine.

Well that must have been almost entirely countries outside the U.S., bc Nov 13th preorder numbers for the America's were 9,974. That's the main reason why I made the thread...bc It's 2 weeks from launch, only at 260,000 preorders in the Americas, and then has had extremely low new preorders (in the Americas) even after its release date announcement.

Can someone give me a link to the European pre-orders? People keep saying they are insanely high but I haven't seen anything about this...

Its not a FPS.  GT crowed is not the will preorder and wait for a phone call to rush to the store and be one of the first online type.

Hardcore gamer and hardcore / just GT gamer are two differant beasts.

I may be mistaken, but weren't both Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 3 practically launch games for the PS1 and PS2 meaning you could not purchase a PS1 or PS2 without having to buy the game with it? If so, then that explains their numbers.

Your first paragraph is nothing like the truth.

Anyway, this game isn't even out so this whole thread is silly and shouldn't have been created the way it was.  There is nothing to worry.  GT5 will have huge marketing and sell many millions.
