Forums - Sony - Is Gran Turismo 5 in trouble?

Also, how exactly do we know that VGChartz is right on the Pre-Orders?

We don't know.

Around the Network

After being in development for so long, and being delayed many times (march 2010 then 2-Nov-2010 then 24-Nov), people got the feeling that it might be delayed once again and they wont be playing it this Christmas.

That is why they are being careful with the pre-order.

But when the game is released the game sales will skyrocket.

That is my theory.

Can someone give me a link to the European pre-orders? People keep saying they are insanely high but I haven't seen anything about this...

Theirs no exact figure but France has a initial shipment of 555k. ShopTo in the UK has said that GT5 may possibly be the biggest launch the shop has ever seen. It's getting extra employees for the GT launch. And F1 shows that racers aren't forgotten in EMEAA. 1 Million pre orders seem reasonable.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Well sales raised 1300 % on amazon after the release date announcement. The game is huge here in Europe , and even bigger in Japan. So it will do fine. :)

no its not.

Japan;

Population: 127 million

GT sales:

GT: 2.55

GT2: 1.71

GT3: 1.89

GT4: 1.26

GT5P: 0.57

Europe;

Population: 731 million

GT sales:

GT: 4.31

GT2: 3.70

GT3: 5.83

GT4: 6.49

GT5P: 2.20

GT is clearly bigger in Japan. Yes, Europe has quite a few poor countries but that is simply a factor towards GT sales not being higher, yet again showing that GT is bigger in Japan.

GT moves more in Europe, as is natural since the population is a whole lot bigger but per inhabitant, GT is bigger in Japan so his statement is not false.

ahhh, you are saying he meant "relatively more popular"

If he meant that then ok... but he didnt say that.

it isnt bigger, it is more popular.

Yeah, pretty much. I do wonder what kind of numbers it (GT5) will pull in Japan though, Japan as a market has been completely out of whack this gen.

Well if it were on the xbox it would get a huge marketing push from Microsoft. I wonder if Sony will push it in the Americas.

Microsoft has a short-term, quarterly focus, while Sony is betting on the long-term by catering to emerging countries such as Brazil, India and the like.

Just imagine the attach rate for Gran Turismo 5 in Brazil or India if Sony pushed it hard enough. Gran Turismo 5 would blow Black Ops first day and first week sales out of the water.

True true. Lets see what happens... Not many people here know about Gt for some reason.

GT's pretty popular in the Middle East...=S Or at least, where I live.

Im not sure why but people here prefer NFS over it ;/ Maybe Gt5 will change things...

Interestingly in the two national newspapers I have read this morning, the game that is getting the press, and very good reviews in both, is NFS....

GT5 doesnt even get a mention.  No ads either... why is ther zero advertising? no press? no tv?  I find this a very odd approach for Sony to take with its biggest franchise by far.

We all know Sony marketing sucks very very hard.

Possibly the latest delay did not allow the booking of advertising space.

Or, production is struggling and they would rather launch quietly and then push later.

Thats a good point and very likely, Im sure marketing space was booked a long time in advance for the holidays.

Gran Turismo 5 has started getting TV ads as of today in America. During the football no less. I'm sure advertising space isn't the problem. You'll start seeing ads later on this week in the UK I reckon.

Also NFS came out on Friday. It seems the newspapers don't review games until they are already out. I looked on the broadsheet websites and Gran Turismo 5 is mentioned plenty of times.
