Depends on the year.
If there's about $200 worth of new games that I want to get in a year, it's tough. If it's well under that I can usually get them at launch or at a slight discount.
I can usually maybe only get 3 at most $70 games a year, if that.

What Liquid Laser said - when it comes to games, time is real currency for me as well, not money.
That said, I buy day one only "I want to support the developer" games, whether I will play them aright away or in unspecified number of years.

There's like two games a year I want to buy as new at this point (roughly), so yeah I think I can manage. I could probably also afford a new gaming PC if I really wanted but... yeaah I think I'm saving that instead, definitely doesn't feel value for me any longer. If I can just find a way to play The Witcher 4 I'm set for years.

Money's not the issue, time is. There was a time when both were the issue, and before that, money was the issue but time wasn't. But I have a job and know how to manage my expenses in relation to my income, so no problem. To be honest, where I live, I don't see why anyone with a full-time job should have financial hardships unless they have unusual expenses (e.g. due to health issues, and healthcare is quite affordable here). Of course it's a different thing if you don't have a job.

Not everyone who has a job can afford the games they want and that number of people is rising. 

Yes, because there's nothing I want to get anymore :p And yeah, I can easily replace my console now, not that it will break while not using it!

I used to spend 1,200 on games, 1,200 on movies a year, then hardware on top. Now I spend more on books than on games+movies combined. Children of Time is better than either!

Depends how you look at it.
I do have savings to get anything I want and it wouldn't really be a problem.
But I haven't for long had any income (and don't seem to anytime soon), so I'm living extremely sparingly and therefore haven't spend money to even have a modern console or PC to play anything new.

Yup. Being single with no kids has its perks.

Yea, i have more then enough there was a time i spend 600 to a 1000 euros a month on games,but thats been years ago,there are better ways to spend money and i have more then enough to play.
