Sonic Frontiers should reach 5M next year, good to know.
Funny that Superstars outsold it in those 12 months. It is 1 year newer, but still.
Now gimme freaking Sonic Mania 2, please.

Yes, Three Kingdoms is way older at this point, but Warhammer is what everyone seems to have been thrilled about probably since the first game came out. There even seems to be less interest in historical games in the series due to Warhammer. I guess this must be the power of the Chinese market. On the other hand, support for Three Kingdoms was cut short despite the great sales, probably due to poor DLC sales, which is a pity. |
Too bad it doesn’t say how much Pharaoh sold. I guess it didn’t do very well then.

Sonic Superstars released 3 days before Mario Bros Wonder which was an incredibly dumb move; this ain't the 90s, Sonic is in no shape to take on his old rival head to head any more.
I wish we could see the sales per platform. I wanna see if SEGA fans are now Nintendo fans or PlayStation fans

Back when we did get software estimates, I believe Sonic games tended to do best on platforms like Wii and Switch, but sales on PS3/360/PS4/XBO were healthy too.
Looks like SMTV Vengeance sold just as well as the original release, despite the existence of the original. Really glad to play the best version. I just hope they don't release a best version of future games, but they love money.
But at least I can enjoy Persona 4 soon in all of its glory like I did Persona 3 Reload.

And 2.43 million is fine for a Sonic title anyway despite the fact that they're multiplat. 2.43 mil would be pretty devastating for a 2D or 3D Mario game. But for Sonic it seems decent to good.
And yes, the timing was beyond horrible. I don't see an argument where someone would be willing to pick up both around the same time because they want to play 2D platformers. Keep in mind Spider-Man 2 also launched that day. I got Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder and both were huge hits and I love them as games. Where was my financial and free time budget going to align to add Sonic to those two? It would simply not happen. $130+tax for Spider-Man and Mario was already a lot of money at once and Sonic simply didn't make the cut.
Lifetime Sales Predictions
Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)
PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)
Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)
3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Damn, sucks that SMT5 didnt sell as much if not more than Persona 5.
I enjoyed my playthrough of SMT5 on Switch , will get Vengeance later.
Persona 3 Reload sold as much as SMTV - damn.

Sonic Frontiers will outsell Sonic Heroes to become the best-selling 3D Sonic game.
I heard good things about it. Unfortunately, I missed the last sale, so I'll wait for another one to purchase it. I really like Sonic games, but I'm short on money.

Yeah, probably. People just didn't seem to like it very much at launch, and it's kind of hard to come back from a poor launch. My understanding is that the game has improved a lot since launch, but I'm also getting a hunch that people are expecting something more like Warhammer (faction/unit variety etc.) these days and are thus less likely to like historical games. I like the series myself, but I haven't played enough of it to be able to tell if that's indeed the case of Creative Assembly has really lost the ball in the more recent releases. Even Warhammer III had a rough launch if I recall correctly, but judging by both reviews and sales, they managed to turn it around.
