I think it's remarkable that Total War: Three Kingdoms has sold much better than Total War: Warhammer III. Yes, Three Kingdoms is way older at this point, but Warhammer is what everyone seems to have been thrilled about probably since the first game came out. There even seems to be less interest in historical games in the series due to Warhammer. I guess this must be the power of the Chinese market. On the other hand, support for Three Kingdoms was cut short despite the great sales, probably due to poor DLC sales, which is a pity.

Too bad it doesn’t say how much Pharaoh sold. I guess it didn’t do very well then.

Yeah, probably. People just didn't seem to like it very much at launch, and it's kind of hard to come back from a poor launch. My understanding is that the game has improved a lot since launch, but I'm also getting a hunch that people are expecting something more like Warhammer (faction/unit variety etc.) these days and are thus less likely to like historical games. I like the series myself, but I haven't played enough of it to be able to tell if that's indeed the case of Creative Assembly has really lost the ball in the more recent releases. Even Warhammer III had a rough launch if I recall correctly, but judging by both reviews and sales, they managed to turn it around.
