Wrath of Cortex (2001) was the first Crash game to go multiplatform. Ties with Sony were cut several years before Universal Interactive/Vivendi merged with Activision.

Sony will probably try to keep working with Shift Up, and good chance they will succeed, but it's not guaranteed.

Stellar Blade could end up like Bloodborne but then again Sony let Kojima Pro go multiplat with DS2 after funding them heavily. There's a lot that can happen in between but there is no way in hell it's ending up like Crash.

Sorry, but you can't possibly explain why Shift Up wouldn't at least consider leaving Sony* if a 3rd party publisher steps in, pays them more than Sony is willing, and allows them to go full multiplatform.

Bloodborne is a Sony IP, and Death Stranding is made on a Sony engine. There are more similarities between Crash and Stellar Blade than your two other examples. And your reasoning as to why Sony stopped publishing Crash is objectively wrong. Crash wasn't "sold" until 2008 (merger with Activision).

I have since learned that Shift Up have confirmed Stellar Blade 2 so we can rule out selling the IP and the bloodborne treatment. Anything is possible and more than likely they could follow Quantic Dream, Kojima Pro, Supermassive and I'm not disagreeing with you. All we can do is speculate.

Nioh is a different case since Playstation only published Nioh outside Japan and only on playstation, Stellar Blade is published by them globally and on pc. Sony mainly handled the localisation for nioh while with nioh 3 international publishing and localization is done by koei tecmo europe and it's honestly really easy to spot the difference. Nioh falls under sony's definition of second party but stellar blade doesn't.

The slight differences hardly matter. Sony does not own either the IP nor the developer. The developer can decide to self publish or approach another publisher for the sequel and go full multiplatform.

Once upon a time, Sony published Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. Crash was pretty much Playstation's mascot, and yet it didn't take long for it to cut ties with Sony Computer Entertainment.

All I'm saying is Stellar Blade 2 won't necessarily be a Sony published game nor a Playstation console/timed exclusive, unless the developer is contract bound to work with Sony on multiple games.

Sony publishing on pc is a big difference That's a much greater level of involvement with the overall ip that goes further than a simple deal. They are clearly tying it to the palystation brand and consider it first party while they consider their games with koei tecmo to be second party partnerships. i'm half expecting DS2 to be published on pc by them too because they contracts for the original were definitely before they were regularly publishing on pc if they didn't have a no-gamepass clause for it.

People diminishing this games success as if it doesn't count cause the MC is overly sexy and now because of people using mods is the most small minded shit I've ever seen. "OH, It's 3 million but it doesn't count cause blah gooner blah game" but the hypocrisy when compared to such sexualized games like BG3 (Whivh I love exists, I'll hopefully love the game too). I even seen a game where one of the reviewers who bashed stellarblade for it's sexylaity when propping up a game that's all about romancing household objects, the same person. What the fuck is the cultural issue here, something has gone wrong somewhere. And not to mention the hypocrisy that Eve is technically closer to an object that would fit in her inanimate object dating sim game cause she's an android.

Shift up, Asian devs and the gamers that support them have won. Simmer down and accept that the media who want everything sexless and androgynous for some reason have lost their almost religious like crusade. I don't like the Grummz types either but the 3 million people didn't come from his or YouTuber in that space, relatively small followings. Stop trying to downplay this games success because it isn't something you don't personally like.

Anyway, people have spoken and said they want this and there is no way they would buy this in masses if the game was a shell for EVEs body parts, unless there was also a long substance and enjoyable game at the core.

Yeah the ideological zealots on places like Resetera and Reddit are majorly butthurt over the game's success, because it goes against their puritanical, dogmatic belief that sexiness is evil and that everything has to be made ugly and sexless.

The game didn't get much flack on Playstation release, I don't think people are that offended by the sexuality as much as they're just coming to terms with their western-centric judgement on success being undermined. Similar situation when Ne Zha 2 became the highest grosses animated film of all time. Lots of disbelief but also dismissal because we in the west had never heard or it and didn't have it on our radar.

Similarly this game has essentially out performed all the titles Playstation owners have in large cconsidered to be better/more deserving in regards to the PC sales.

That's not true in the slightest. The amount of flack Stellar Blade received during the lead up to and shortly after the game's release on Playstation was absurd. The game little fan fair as Project Eve. Then goofballs like Alex Battaglia at DF started making silly comments and people started to pay attenion. Then you had supposedly profressional game reviewers accussing the games director of "never seeing a real woman before". The numerous nimrods on social media talking about how unrealistc Eve's body is despite her figure being scanned from two real life models. Shin Jae-eun and Yoon Seolhwa. The ridiculous backlash was actually one of the main drivers of game success. If the people that hated the game purely because of Eve's apperance had simply STFU, the game wouldn't have sold as well. The funniest thing is the vast majority of the people clutching their pearls at Eve's appearance had social media histories that showed them to be complete hypocrites.

I agree with everything you said but despite the scanning Shift Up did... enhance Eve, they gave her a case of scoliosis and some outfits change her body, if you flick through them quickly you can see some...enhance her posterior as well as add to that scoliosis which makes her completely unrealistically attractive. I have never seen any woman, super model or whatever have that certain level of perfect posture while also having severe scoliosis but it's all still nonsense cause Eve isn't even human. When Robots are mass produced they'll probably look even better than Eve and have features such as their eyes made larger to make people more trusting of them which will add to attractiveness in a completely unrealistic way. There is nothing wrong with being unrealistic in art either. Hypocrites they indeed are and it only takes one look into a journos prior work to find severe doublethink.

That's a joke. Reshitera lost their fucking minds...not that they ever had any to begin with. But they shat on it constantly. From the developer to Eve to the game. They were obsessed with picket signs professing it and the developers' evils! Neogaf and Reshitera are both opposite sides of the extreme coin and you need to be a nutcase to post on either one and follow the echo chamber or be ousted lol

Before you ask no I was never a member. Nor did I attempt to.

Oh, well clearly I'm in the right places because i missed all of this lol. I even followed digital foundary's tech review of the game and it was really glowing
