The game didn't get much flack on Playstation release, I don't think people are that offended by the sexuality as much as they're just coming to terms with their western-centric judgement on success being undermined. Similar situation when Ne Zha 2 became the highest grosses animated film of all time. Lots of disbelief but also dismissal because we in the west had never heard or it and didn't have it on our radar. |
That's not true in the slightest. The amount of flack Stellar Blade received during the lead up to and shortly after the game's release on Playstation was absurd. The game little fan fair as Project Eve. Then goofballs like Alex Battaglia at DF started making silly comments and people started to pay attenion. Then you had supposedly profressional game reviewers accussing the games director of "never seeing a real woman before". The numerous nimrods on social media talking about how unrealistc Eve's body is despite her figure being scanned from two real life models. Shin Jae-eun and Yoon Seolhwa. The ridiculous backlash was actually one of the main drivers of game success. If the people that hated the game purely because of Eve's apperance had simply STFU, the game wouldn't have sold as well. The funniest thing is the vast majority of the people clutching their pearls at Eve's appearance had social media histories that showed them to be complete hypocrites.
