I just realized that the Ocarina of Time 3DS-make is closer to the release date of the original than today...

An even more disturbing fact is that Wario Land: Shake It (the final Wario Land game and non-WarioWare Wario game) is 16 years old and the original Wario Land was 14 years old when Shake It came out.

I played most of 4 (but didn't beat it) but my cuz grew up with some of those games and I feel bad they're a dead series. It seems like such an easy thing for Nintendo to revive. Remaking Land 4 in a hand-drawn style seems like a Switch 2 title to revive Wario Land.
As for whether or not Ocarina of Time releases on Switch 2 in 2028 is up to Nintendo's timing. In the likely event the next 3D Zelda launches in 2029, I don't know if Nintendo will want an Ocarina of Time Remake (but maybe a remaster) the year before.
Tears of the Kingdom and Echoes of Wisdom are completely different. I suppose Ocarina and another open-world 3D Zelda are pretty different as well.
The new Zelda that would get me most hyped is a 3D Zelda that is a smaller open world than the BOTW/TOTK duology and has more progression-based dungeons and removes the brittle weapons system. Oh, and Link's green tunic as the standard outfit again.
Lifetime Sales Predictions
Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)
PS5: 122 million (was 105 million, then 115 million) Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)
Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)
3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Hope they realized a great hardware launch requires at least one great launch title (Wii: Twilight Princess / Switch: Breath of the Wild). Unlikely to be Zelda this time but a new 3D Mario or Mario Kart 9 should do the job.

Is OoT remake like a major rumor?
I could care less about an OoT remake. Been there, done that. I just want Wind Waker on Switch 2 cuz I only ever played a little bit of that game.
As far as the next Zelda, yeah I think I would like to see it a little more compact but content filled. Maybe 80% the size of the botw/totk map, but with a bustling hyrule city and the land packed with enemies and dungeons and tons of stuff. I don't mind the weapons system as it adds strategy and forces you to use and pick up different things. I have long wanted a Zelda game that takes place during a Hyrulian war with Ganon and his forces. Would love to see something like that. Where it has the typical exploring, fighting, dungeons gameplay, but you also have battles going on that you have to fight in, and specific strategic things you as Link have to do to help the war.
I generally play older machines for another 2 generations - I still dip into Wii from time to time. Even PSX to play certain RPGs that haven’t been pushed to modern platforms yet (Suikoden a year ago after it became clear Konami publishing fucked up the announcement).
That said, I’ve been ready for Switch 2 since about 2019. When tiered setting become more the norm on consoles, I’m hoping for 2-3 years between hardware instead of 5-8 years. I don’t care if generational support continues for 10+ years, but I’d prefer to top up my top end consoles with more meaningful upgrades—not just OLED, or a bigger screen, but updated chipsets.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Ocarina of Time Remake seems pretty likely since the 3D remake is already over 13 years old. The least ambitious case I could see happening is a very enhanced port of the 3D remake that remaps the controls, ups the resolution, and some new assets. It would be like Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, maybe a little more of an enhanced port. GTA 6 is not happening, because I don't think Rockstar would bother with a cloud-only version. And we know it's not coming to PS4 and Xbox One. GTA 5 might not even happen because even though Wii U could've run the game, GTA 5 makes a killing on GTA Online and Nintendo consoles have crappy online infrastructure. The only 3D GTA not on Nintendo systems I can see coming to Switch 2 is an enhanced port of GTA 4. |
What makes you think the switch 2 wouldn't run gta6. Considering when dev began on gta6, it's a ps4 game that's been enhanced to 60 fps with some added enhancements. We ne ver got a proper gta ps4 game, only rdr2. Judging from the trailer, graphically it looked like a ps4 game with more on on screen crowds.
We know the switch 2 will be alot better than a base ps4, and with new tech in the gpu/cpu, it's going to be on par with a series s or better.
Oh I am hyped, I assure you.
Hyped about the software prospects mostly. The hardware side speculations and leaks burned me out completely.
Just imagining the few ways they can push new titles in their great series or new possible IPs and partnerships with 3rd party studios makes me quite excited to the coming future.
My outlook on a few things :
- New 3D Mario (probably in the vein of Bowser's Fury) and a new Mario Kart (FINALLY!) looks to be insanely probable for the Switch sucessor first year on the market.
- Pokemon Legends ZA may have a Switch 2 version on release but I'm not counting on it since Game freak isn't known for multitasking different hardwares at the same time.
- Monolith Soft, probably the biggest Studio owned by them, has a title in Xenoblade X DE releasing soon-ish. It could have possibly an Switch successor update to push a degree a fidelity that would enhance the experience.
Mostly, it's about their new project by Takahashi which has been working on a new project for a while now. This isn't a launch year title of course but people have suspicions that could also be working on a game for the launch year of the system ... Which isn't impossible but less likely because of XCX DE now.
- Metroid Prime 4 is a prime candidate to be amongst the first few titles to be launched as a cross gen game when the successor will come out.
- Maybe HAL Laboratories as something Kirby related for that first year, who knows :)

I will be excited when it's officially announced. Until then whatever. In the meantime more excited having my DC modded with GDEMU and HDMI

I think a smart hype and marketing strategy for Nintendo would be to outright say (and by extension deliver over the next 7 or so years) that Switch 2 will have a very diverse Nintendo library including some comebacks. While it's true that Switch has gotten pretty much every successful Nintendo IP, I do think even the smaller ones would've gotten the "Switch Effect" if they actually released.
It would be cool for Switch 2 to bring back Star Fox, Punch Out, Kid Icarus, Nintendogs, Wario Land, Pilotwings, and maybe a substantial F-Zero. And finally, a new DK game and Pikmin 5 that doesn't take 10 years after 4 released in 2023.
Certain IPs that seem dead probably won't return like Mother, Chibi-Robo, Wave Race, 1080 Snowboarding, Golden Sun, and so on.
