Guessed by @Veknoid_Outcast

This is the third appearance of Mass Effect on my list since replaying it in the Legendary Edition, and the fact that I still haven't gone and played its sequels three years on makes me rather disappointed with myself. This game is incredibly awesome, it's amazing how well it establishes such a rich and deep universe while also remaining a fun game with an interesting story and incredible atmosphere. It's been around a decade since I first played it, and I feel like my opinion of it has largely been marred by its sequels, in that I don't see this is "the complete" package, when in truth it is an incredibly deep and complete game in its own right. I hope I do get around to playing the full trilogy sometime soon, but regardless of what I feel about the sequels, Mass Effect is an amazing game.

Love the graphics you've created for your write-ups mZuzek.

Thanks, they're actually the same layout as last year's but they were good enough to keep

Anyways, I want today's game guessed, so here goes another hint!

#38 - The only numbered sequel in the mainline series of a franchise over 25 years old.
Hint 2 - It was announced with a cool anime trailer that put this franchise's actual anime to shame.
Hint 3 - It was the last mainline game in the series to primarily use 2D graphics; there's a perception that they went downhill since the move to 3D.

Took a bit of thinking, Pokémon Black and White 2

Man, I miss the days when I could look forward to a Pokémon game knowing it'd be a great time. Black 2 & White 2 are largely seen by the fanbase as the last Pokémon entries to have that standard of quality, a statement I almost agree with, even if I don't think these are the greatest entries in the series, not by a long shot. As sequels to the original Black & White, I didn't appreciate how they presented a more standard-fare story, but it still worked well and it was interesting to see what happened in Unova after the events of the preceding games. As general Pokémon games though, these are amazing - loads of content, great roster of 'mons to pick from, great soundtrack, and just the right balance of freedom/guidance to make for a fun experience while retaining some semblance of an interesting storyline and good characters. Distant times indeed.

-Elder Crossing

-You are a member of the fifth fleet

-Although it's the New World, you do encounter quite a few familiar beasts

Honorable mention: Crypt of the Necrodancer
I haven't talked about this one in a while, but man, it's such a fun game and it really defined a month of my life or so. I haven't gone back to it but I have good memories of playing this everywhere, jamming to the banger soundtrack, and all that. Love this game.

Crypt of the Necrodancer is a cool concept and game, I like. I'm just bad at all timing games, including rhythm games, but I like the concept and the music absolutely rocks.

OK, the last one is definitely MonHun. So Elder Crossing means Elder Dragon. New World is MonHun World I think, this one I didn't play.
