PS5 Ships 54.8 Million Units as of 31.12.2023. PS5 is yet to enter in its peak period and according to Sony's own forecasts it seems PS5 will get to an even stronger peak period than the PS4 one. How many units do you think PS5 will sell through it's lifetime and will it beat PS4 ?

Here is a charts comparing it to PS4 and PS3 sales up to 1.01.2024.

Previous polls:

Xbox hardware is a weaker competitor this time around and in all likelihood, a successor won't release until 2028, so I'm going with at least an extra 10m on the PS4.

I think it will outsell the PS4.

41 Million in less than 3 years facing shortages is very respectable. This gen will most likely last until 2028 or even 2029, and there are still a lot of big titles coming from both Sony and third parties.

130M was my guess before the gen started and I'll stick with it.

I picked 100-110M because that's what I picked at the start of the generation. However, I'm starting to suspect I will be wrong given Sony's rather aggressive sales tactics to get to their FY goal. As well as the rather poor adoption of Series consoles as of late (I initially felt it would do better than the Xbox One, but it's lagging behind now).

I wouldn't be surprised to be wrong at all.

If 2027 was the release year for the PS6 then a tad less than the PS4 but since it looks like it'll likely be 2028 it'll probably end up in the 120's.

There haven't been any aggressive sales tactics thus far. In fact, the PS5 actually had a price-increase in a lot of the world, and that's something that's practically never heard of for consoles.

They have a temporary price cut going on in several countries right now. It's $450 in the US. I'd say that's aggressive in the middle of August.

Sticking with my original 130-140 million.

Considering how it been doing compared with PS4 I think it will be 120-130 and depending on Sony doing extra well and launching more must haves it can go over it.
