Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Best year of the Switch, besides 2017

I think the best is...

2018 1 3.85%

2019 10 38.46%

2020 3 11.54%

2021 4 15.38%

2022 8 30.77%

Total:26

Probably gonna be 2023, but otherwise I'd say 2018 and 2019.

It's probably going to end up being 2023, but it's of course still too soon to say.
I'll pick 2019 as far as post-2017 years for Switch go so far.
Final Fantasy VII (played on PS4, but I know the Switch version is the same)
Super Mario Maker 2
Dragon Quest Builders 2 (played on PS4, but I know Switch version is very similar)
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Luigi's Mansion 3

On the hardware side, Switch Lite launched. And on the minor revision side, Switch with a better battery launched.

And something small, but I can mention that Super NES NSO was added this year, though plenty of notable titles were missing.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Yeah 2023 is definitely looking like a strong frontrunner, provided the rest of the year's lineup doesn't disappoint.

So far I'd go with 2022 just for the sheer quantity of good games; Xenoblade 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, It Takes Two, Nier Automata, Lunistice, Prodeus, 13 Sentinels, Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak.

2022 had the best year for software that was up to my taste with games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby and The Forgotten Land, AI: The Somnium Files Nirvana, Triangle Strategy, etc ...

It was a banger time for me personally. Admittedly, I really what we had in 2019 and 2021 too.

Though right now, 2023 is gaining in traction amongst the big contenders !

Man, I don't get the 2023 one. I did get Metroid Prime and Zelda but I don't see anything else until Super Mario RPG I'd buy. It feels pretty much like the system is in twilight.

Ah yes, only 3 of the best games of all time, and then tossing out a new 2D Mario to end the year. Such twilight.

(Not even mentioning a new Pikmin)

How recently? I would have waited for switch 2.
