35: Metal Gear Solid 2?

Correct! I figured that one should at least be guessable.

It's the first hint that threw me off. I don't remember the live action footage in MGS2. Is it during the ending?

YoY: -4    My Rating: 9.2/10

The second of many The Legend of Heroes games on my list, Trails of Cold Steel III was akin to a second start for the series, as it not only made the jump to a new console generation, but also introduced a new set of main characters that took the center stage for much of the game. In general, the four Trails of Cold Steel games feel like two distinct pairs, the first two centering around the same core group of characters and storyline, while the latter two take place after some time has passed and, as mentioned, feature many entirely new characters in addition to the already familiar cast.

This soft reset is both a blessing and a curse. It definitely gives the game a feeling of freshness, but on the other hand in some ways it also feels like you're restarting a lot of stuff from scratch. Once the story gets going, the new characters have been introduced and made familiar, then the game hits its stride again. Not that the beginning is bad or anything, the game just takes a moment to essentially collect itself after the new start. Effectively, we're setting up new pieces on the board for the final game in the series after quite a few of the major storylines were wrapped up in the second game. It doesn't make the game bad by any means, just one that takes a little while to get going.

More hints.

#30

-A secret mission taking place at the same time as the events of another game in the series

-Set in an alternate version of Europe during a great war

-A tactical RPG that masquerades as a real-time game, but is actually turn-based

-The name of this series takes its first half from a mythological group of female warriors

#29

-The origin of the dragon and the mad dog (Yakuza 0)

#28

-The fog denotes a murder

-To get the true ending of this game requires some very specific actions to be taken

-TV at midnight

-The game is split into two halves, a simulation half where you spend time with your friends in the real world, and the action half where you dive into dungeons usually based on the psychological issues of a specific character

#27

-The New World features a massive wall often called "The End of the World" that divides the continent in two

-Developed by Game Arts, this game was originally released on the Sega Saturn in 1997, but only in Japan. The later Playstation port was released in the west as well

-This JRPG features voice acting, though as was quite common for games of the era, it's not exactly very good

-The first game in the series

#26

-The first game in a tetralogy, set after a trilogy, and taking place concurrently to a duology (The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel)

Guessed by @Darashiva

I mean, it's Portal. Everyone who's played this loves it, it's fun, it's smart, it's brilliant. A tiny game you can beat in a few hours but it oozes so much personality it stays with you forever. Also it kinda blew people's minds. There's not much more to say really.

Just realized it's December already and we're heading into the top 30. That went by fast.

I heard that somewhere. Can't put my finger on it. Civilization maybe? Eh, Civ VI?

That's... Simultaneously very far, and not that far at all. I could elaborate but I'll wait instead. It'll make sense when you see it, I think.

Alright, let's make this the actual final hint for these two games:

35) This game has several clips of live action footage, including one that creeped me out despite being very mundane
Hint 2: You could call it Conspiracy Theory: The Game
Hint 3: But what does S3 really stand for?
Hint 4: Only mainline game where you don't play as a snake

34) The protagonist of the first game is really old in this second entry, but in the third game he's young again.
Hint 2: But this game has a different protagonist who shares his name with a letter from the greek alphabet
Hint 3: Visual novel meets puzzle game
Hint 4: Originally released only on handheld consoles (3DS and Vita)

#35: Metal Gear Solid 3?

#34: sounds like Zero Escape 2, which is Virtue's Last Reward

34 is right!

35 is wrong as it was MGS 2

There are several clips of historical achieve footage in the game, I believe most is indeed during the ending. But the one that creeped me out was a random clip that played in the corner of the screen during actual gameplay.
