And just like that, 2022's lead over 2020 gets erased.  Still has a good lead over 2019 though.

I missed it last week but PS5 YTD 2022 slipped below PS5 2021. This is not something that should be happening during a console 2nd full year, those shortages are really something else.

Otherwise pretty calm week, I didn't even know "Let's fight CHAOS" was releasing last week, seems I wasn't the only one.

I think with Sony forecasting record low PS shipments for the quarter, it’s to be expected they would be selling abysmal numbers. Things are going to be bleak until the summer.

Sony forecast 2 million shipments this quarter worldwide, 2 million for FY Q4 is not an abysmal number just a little bit underwhelming. PS4 sold 2.2m in it's second Q4 so let's not exaggerate. As for Japan it is only 24k down yoy, it is not good but not too bad either.

Didn't realize some FF game was hitting Sony this week. Though looks like not much interest in it.
GT7 should drop off top 10 next week. If nothing else is coming out on Sony in the next couple weeks Switch will probably be back to sweeping the top 10 in two weeks.
Switch HW solid. Would like to see over 100k for Kirby next week.
Love Xbox's YTD versus Last YTD stats!

About 5x better. It is a nice increase.

PS5 YTD below last YTD after the release of two exclusive AAA titles is worrying. Year 2 must be ahead year 1, otherwise it's very unhealthy and hard to get back the lost sales, because people will start to look for something different at some point, especially if a new star appears on the sky (new Nintendo hardware). Sony must find a solution pretty quick.

It seems Sony ships "all" their consoles to the US, because even in Europe PS5 is behind Xbox Series.

MK8D's sales are really what convinces me MK9 will be a launch title for the successor platform it just keeps going.

Over the next 15 weeks, it averages out to 86.7k per week for 2020. I think 2022 can definitely keep up or pass 2020 again, with Kirby, Switch Sports and Mario Strikers as notable releases.

Personally, I believe 2022 will end up higher than last year, but lower than 2020. (I think this will be the case globally as well) 2021 has some less than stellar weeks starting at week 28, all the way to week 40, and beyond that, the end of the year was also pretty lackluster.

The year 2021 was strange as it had the strongest start of any of its years followed by the weakest holiday season.

The question is if Sony will even come close to 2m at this point. Sales in Asia are not great. Sales in Europa are down by a lot. And in February Sony was number 3 in the US is both unit and dollar sales.

Them having large problems sourcing their components is not a good sign.

Yeah, 2020 had Animal Crossing this week. And 2021 will have Monster Hunter Rise next week, so 2022 will fall back further against these two. Although Kirby is soon, but I don't think that will reverse the trend. Splatoon and BOTW 2 may sell a lot of Switch though.

Shame to see the PS5 falling behind 2021, hopefully 2022 catches up in the coming weeks. It's kinda funny that the Xbox Series is the only platform up so far this year considering the consistently poor performance of Xbox consoles in Japan.

I wouldn't rule out MK8 Ultimate for Switch successor. All tracks/ DLC + extra.
