Forums - Sony Discussion - (Rumor - Jason Schreier) PlayStation Plans New Service to Take On Xbox Game Pass?

I dunno I read that PS+ and Now will merge, but maybe I read it wrong.

And my point was/is: neither Sony nor Nintendo need to do as much as efforts than Microsoft to make people buy their stuff/selling their services, because they are both currently very successful

Great move and no its nothing like Gamepass.
This is PS+ + PSNow + BC.

This will allow Sony to get PS+ numbers to 60-80 million or have 60M PS+ subs and 20M PS Premium subs at a much higher price. The big draw is emulation. If its native and there's also a store this could be big.

Sounds more like rebranding, getting rid of the PS Now name and put everything under PS+ while adding an extra tier.

Anyway Sony won't beat 3 months of game pass for $1. And I doubt Sony will add 1st party games day one, or only to the highest tier.

If this is true the classic titles (PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP) better be native/emulated. I have a feeling those games will be stream only and that alone will make people not use the service.

Doubt they will do day 1 releases but at the very least, Sony should add all their older 1st party titles onto the service and they should stay indefinitely.

Good for Playstation fans, I guess? Not into the subscription based gaming at all. Gamepass is kinda cool, I guess. Would rather just make a one time purchase though, cheaper.

Good for Playstation! Hopefully it's a big enough success that they make a PC version like Gamepass does, then I can play Nintendo games on Nintendo devices and everything else on PC :)

I look forward to one day being able to bounce back and forth between third party, Halo, Spiderman, etc. Maybe even on the go if the Steamdeck 2 or 3 are good enough.

Fingers crossed this is extended to a whole lot more countries. I still dont have PS Now here in NZ and see the limited numver of countries as one of the main issues with the current subscription.

$49 - PS Pass - (basically old PS Plus)
$99 - PS Pass Plus - (adds BC and PS Now)
$149-PS Pass Premium - (adds game previews and early access, some non gaming entertainment services)->(Maybe day 1 exclusive new IP?)

The article writes that BC is part of the highest tier, which is where I imagine it would go. If ppl really want it, they'll pay premium for it.

Well I figured since MS is offering BC completely free, $99 wouldn't be bad, and it's not like SNY has to put all BC games on there asap.

The $99 level could be streaming only. In the $149 level you could add native/emulated BC. Again, not necessarily all BC games at launch.

SNY could just add more BC games as time goes on, or cycle through them over time.
