It boggles my mind why R* refuses to put it on Switch, there's no excuses at this point tbh. The Switch is more than capable of running it since it was on the 360/PS3, the Switch is one of the fastest selling systems of all time with a bigger install base than the Xbox One, multiple AAA games have been selling well on the Switch with Skyrim & Witcher 3 selling around 1Million, which are franchises much smaller than GTA. EVEN R* LA NOIRE according to VGChartz outsold the Xbox One version DESPITE the Switch having a much smaller install base when they both released. Even looking in the U.K, where Switch accounted for 20% of LA Noire's launch sales despite only having 8% console market share at the time. The Switch's install base is also mostly filled with gamers, not casuals who just wanted to play Wii Tennis... I'm at the point where I believe R* might resent Nintendo for being Anti-Third Party over the years and Nintendo back on the N64 nearly put R* North outta business, so maybe it's that???

No, the Switch (or Nintendo in general) doesn't fit into Rockstars' image.

Something something they don't want to pay third party porting company to keep up with GTA Online's ever growing micro-transactions and without that, god forbid anyone is allowed to play GTA V.

Doesn't Nintendo and Rockstar have a rocky relationship? I remember reading an article that stated Nintendo didn't want GTA on their platform, so Rockstar got mad or something... i dunno, my memory's probably off on that one.

If they cant promote their online currency and gambling on a device it might not be that worth it for them when the maingame is almost free to get on other platforms.

Nintendo got them to release a timed exclusive GTA on DS. Promoted it at E3. In fact, Iwata and Miyamoto took a tour of the R* NYC office for the game. That said, China Wars flopped badly. I just think R* feels there is not an audience for GTA on Nintendo systems. Tho like Capcom and EA they are living in the past. We have seen Saints Row games release on Switch. R* supported Wii and DS with quite a few games. From Manhunt 2 to Tabletop Tennis to China Wars. I think Manhunt 2 didn't do well tho. So their M rated efforts failed on Wii and DS. They probably still see Nintendo as that audience.

Maybe on the switch 2. Since they are milking the death of it.

I dont think so. Mostly because of the online part is my guess.

Online and storage are the hurdles... There'd be quite a substantial day one "patch" before any updates.


I'd imagine Nintendo are the one that likely said no.
